What ever happened to their football program? I don't follow high school much but it seems like they used to Galway be completing for championships and always had college prospects. Now it seems like I don't hear about them as much or players coming from them. Are they still a big time player or why did they fall from power?

Again please take it easy on me I don't follow high school much.

They got forced down to 2A. Hard to recruit players for a 2A program. They are still good, but due to level of competition they don't get the attention.

Not to mention, the school essentially split with the formation of Calvary.

They aren't nearly as good as they used to be, but they contend for their class title every year. About 10 years ago, the booty family and a few others had a falling out with the duron's and left evangel to start Calvary baptist, another private school in Shreveport. That school has taken away some of the better players they used to get. They still put out studs like rasco here and there

Brother plays LB for them and the last few years they have put good teams out their. They might not have the size you want at every position, but they are coached well. O-line this year had big boys across it.

Thanks , that sounds about right. I also live in south Louisiana so we don't hear as much about them. Weren't they 5a for a short amount of time some years back?

Like what every normal family does when they have a disagreement. They start a school.

Calvary was actually already in existence. They had dropped all but K-5 if I recall. At one time they had a football team and competed in LISA league with First Baptist and Trinity Heights.

Did not know that. Pretty interesting how they rose to prominence as quickly as they did.

Spot on that the Booty's split to start a high school at calvary really hurt them. Now the talent is split between the two. Calvary also has a pretty good baseball program and I think Todd Walker is their new coach.

Well they pretty much had the blueprints to do it with Booty coming over from Evangel. The biggest difference between ECA/Calvary and other schools (aside from the recruiting) is that they have football camps every year for younger kids playing in SPAR, they find the good ones and the next thing you know those kids are wearing Calvary or Evangel uniforms. It puts them in their system early.

Internal dissension among staff/administration led to key people in the program leaving, some of whom wound up at a new football-oriented private school in the area that Evangel had to start competing with for talent.

They really are a shell of their former selves though.
