OL/DL #77-Garrett Brumfield
OL #79-Drew Moore
OL #65- Ruel Walker
OL #74- EJ Oglesby
OL #54- Andrew Stovall
RB #4- Nicholas Brossette
DE/TE/PK #8- Matthew Berg
DL #30- John Guidry
DL #70- Gregory Bowser, Jr.
SS #22- Bo Bankston
WR/CB #11- D'Vante Dotson
FS/WR #24- Malik Antoine
S/WR #3- Jalon Baker
CB/WR #25- Tre Jackson

These are just a few of the ballers that U-High has that I could pulling off the top of my head without looking at the roster! And they are missing one of the biggest pieces from last year's team due to injury. That's LB #44 Jake Wharton!!! Kid is a headhunter!!! I've watched all of these kids play for the last two or three years and and watched them improve dramatically! That being said (and yes I am speaking from a biased point of view), I'd put this crew up against ANY other team in the State, regardless of classification! I know people on TD sing the praises of Curtis, Karr, St. Aug, etc. But, I KNOW this squad could play with ANYBODY right now and be effective and competitive! Win or lose, they'd give any of these so-called powerhouses a damn good game! If the senario would every come up, I don't think a bunch of these elite teams would even accept the game for fear of having to explain how a little "3A school from Baton Rouge" beat their asses!

.. agreed ... they looked real good on TV last night .. I mean , they had "the look" -
players were big , agile , physical , quick.. they could make a lot of noise this year..

Beastly team for sure. How'd your son do last night? He's going to be an animal at LSU.

The entire team is a well oiled, finely tuned machine that only gets better the more you run it! They all looked great! :LOL. Barring major injuries or something of an unforeseen nature, they should run the table during the regular season!

Wow, I didn't realize that. I know he's a decent pitcher but how is he as qb?

Excuse me but I don't know much about the team - are they a run oriented team?

wildman, I totally agree with you. Barring injury to any key players, this team is going to be a tough out for anyone we play. We had 21 on the board almost before nick touched the ball, and handing it over to them in our 2 and pushing them backwards were pretty notable.

Oh yeah, and it looks like we might have a kicker.

Manny is a good all-around athlete. The last 2 years he has played WR. He was not fast by a longshot, but he was sure-handed and he was elusive. He had a unique ability to make the first tackler miss using subtle changes of direction timed prefectly! This is his first season at starting QB. He was previously a backup to Nick Kragthorpe and didn't see much action at the position. He still learning the position as he's a Junior this season. He will fill the role nicely. No worries! He has Brumfield and Morre on the left side, and Brossette toting it out of the backfield. Everything should be lovely!

Your boy is kicking the shite out of the ball! Bruiser told me he could kick it but I didn't believe him! He's kicking 40-45 yarders accurately and with ease! I'm impressed! But, we still need him to focus on his main job which terrorizing QBs!

Not wildman77, but Garrett Brumfield looked really good last night. He is a masher. Was also key in the goal line stand after Manny's INT.

Manny is an impressive high school QB. Gives everything he has and it looks like his teammates appreciate it, respect him for it and play their butts off too. His throws weren't all perfect but he gets it to the guys that make plays and that's exactly what they do.

Hope Dylan is OK. Like the Cox announcers, I was disappointed we didn't get to see him play running back.

Brossette looked really good against what is usually a fundamentally good Teurlings defense.

Those kids were having about as much fun as can be had playing organized football. Really enjoyed watching them. Are any of their other games this season going to be available streaming anywhere? Would really like to see them play again.

Cox 4 Game of the Week Schedule
U-High 2013-2014 Varisty Football Schedule

The next televised game will be Oct. 25th versus Denhan Springs HS. I don't know if any of the other opponents have websites that have broadcast/streaming capabilities.

Thanks, he is ok. he might miss next week but we will see. I would have loved to see him tote the pill in the second half too so we all are a little disappointed. But I tell you what, watching my lil rookie anchor this championship caliber Defense was totally gratifying.

I wish i didnt live in NWLA so i could watch these South LA teams on tv because we dont get them up here! Only powerhouse teams we have up here is Evangel and West Monroe! Well those two are the only school really known on a national scale up here but they are both having kind of a down year i think. I know WM is but im not sure about Evangel. I appreciate yall keeping us northern LA people updated on the bruisers down south!

Mahaffey told a friend of mine this week that his 44 yard FG against RHS would have been good from 55+. Not bad for only kicking a football for 4 weeks. I'm hoping his cell starts getting a few calls from recruiters if he can keep performing.

I played with marsh and matthew, didn't know matt was kicking now. He added some good depth to the soccer team my senior year when he got the call-up to varsity
