I posted a month ago that this was decommitting. He's been knowing he will decommit for a while but just officially announced it. Shortly after committing he believes A&M lied to him. Saban is really putting the full court press on him.

I don't follow the RB on a daily basis. Is there a reason that he doesn't hold an LSU offer or did I misread the thread title?

I think LSU are putting all their eggs in one basket with Cam Akers. It's going to cost them Etienne. But maybe ro them it's Akers or bust idk.

LSU and Akers is such a perfect match. Close to home, we'll have as favorable a depth chart as any other school hes considering, we run the ball alot....whats not to like.

I don't think we are as out of it as everyone thinks.

His film looks better Akers to me. If LSU doesn't offer, they will miss out on a big time player.

Yall know we have a RB committed already, right? Etienne is decent but the coaches want an elite RB to pair with Clyde Edwards-Helaire

After the last camp and picnic, a lot of the recruiting guys were saying that the staff favored a back with a bigger build than Etienne. They were stating that Etienne has a smaller frame, especially up top, and didnt know how much good weight he could put on, which has prevented the staff from offering. Never seen the kid live, and dont know the overall validity to the statement he has a smaller frame, but more than a few guys made that comment.

His film jumps out at you.

Regardless of his size he looks very elite. His acceleration is impressive and he runs through tackles very well in the highlights I saw.

Again though if we don't see him live we are often judging on highlights alone. Which only shows the positives..

I very much would love to see him at LSU. He looks explosive.

It is only July guys, relax. There have been plenty of local kids who didn't receive an offer before their senior years and people were on here kicking and screaming about it, but they eventually proved their worth to the staff and ending up wearing the purple and gold.

Brandon Harris and Darrell Williams immediately come to mind. There is still plenty left to be written about Etienne's story. If he works hard and earns it, he will end up in the right spot.

Harris received his offer in August of/before his senior year, right?

Sometime around there, but QBs usually commit much earlier than other positions. You rarely see a QB commit near signing day where it's pretty common for any other position.

You know Etienne is ranked higher than CEH right? ( On 247, Rivals and ESPN,ranked #12 RB by ESPN) Etienne IS elite. With Akers appearing a very long shot now, there are only 3-5 RBs ranked higher than Etienne who are not already committed elsewhere (and I don't believe LSU is recruiting any of them.) They need to go get Etienne NOW.

Dang spiderman. Have you told our coaching staff about this? I wonder if they even know. You should be leading this charge, our staff knows exactly dick about recruiting...amirite?

No they don't. Akers is a want, not a need. If he commits elsewhere, LSU likely won't pursue another RB.

LSU will have 6 scholarship RBs on the roster in 2017 assuming CEH signs. There are maybe 8 spots left in this class with over a dozen elite prospects showing serious interest at major positions of need. Take the hometown glasses off and recognize LSU can't give a scholarship to every D1 prospect in LA.

I was just responding to the poster who said Etienne is "decent" by poining out that he's ranked higher than our current RB commit and if we want another RB to pair w/ CEH, Etienne is the best available realistic choice.

The staff wants a bigger every down back to pair with CEH. Etienne is very similar to CEH, so they want to get a different type of back which Akers is more every down. That's why Etienne still doesnt have an offer.

If Akers falls through, they will probably offer Etienne, but they arent going to scare off Akers right now.
