Top Ten All-Time LSU Basketball Recruits

This is based purely upon high school accolades/rankings and hype leading up to their first college game action --> i.e. LSU and/or NBA career irrelevant. With Naz Reid committed, I'll give it a try:
1) Ben Simmons
2) Pete Maravich
3) Randy Livingston
4) Tito Horford
5) Durand "Rudy" Macklin
6) Stanley Roberts
7) Shaquille O'Neal
8) John Williams
9) Lester Earl
10) Naz Reid
HM: Chris Jackson, Stromile Swift, Jerry Reynolds
-Not sure where Bob Petit fits in here - also wasn't around for Maravich recruiting but my understanding is that he was the #1 recruit that year and we hired his dad as head coach...

pretty good list but not sure Reid belongs ahead of Stromile and Chris Jackson. I was too young to follow recruiting when Reynolds was in HS.
some more recent honorable mentions.....Big Baby, Brandon Bass, Martin. Mo Williamson was a big get the Shaq year. Ronnie Henderson was a big time recruit somewhat overshadowed by Livingston.

Bass, Big Baby, and Jarell Martin all got more hype than Naz Reid.

Chris Jackson, definitely was a very hyped recruit out of Gulfport.

Agreed. Stromile was a HUGE recruit for Brady and Jackson was a McD's All American (along with Stanley Roberts) in 1988. If Roberts is on the list, Jackson should be as well

Swat Mitchell was Leonard's nickname

I believe John Williams should be 3 or 4.
Pete is from a different era. Too hard to compare anything before the internet. Kinda applies to early Dale Brown recruits as well.
Randy Livingston should be 1. Two time high school player of the year. Tied with Kidd the first year.

Arvydas Sabonis
Also known as the best Lithuanian basketball player in the history of Lithuanian basketball players, Sabonis was a Cold War import who wound up at LSU after head coach Dale Brownpetitioned Mikhail Gorbachev to “create a youth basketball camp exchange between Baton Rouge and Moscow, as well as to take his LSU team on an exhibition tour of the Soviet Union. In return, the U.S.S.R. would loan LSU the services, for one season, of 21-year-old Arvydas Sabonis, a 7’3? center from Lithuania who was considered the greatest amateur basketball player in the world.” Needless to say, the plan worked, Sabonis eventually made it to the NBA, and his rookie season with the Portland Trail Blazers showed him making a massive impact in just 24 minutes per contest.
Just want to add
frick YOU NCAA.

Unless you move Pete to #1 your list is invalid.

Don't have any knowledge of Tom Curry but outside him your list looks pretty good.

Fun topic, but impossible to justify.

Based on a quick Google search, Sabonis never played for LSU. Brown did try to recruit him, though.
