The billboards say welcome to Death Valley. So you don't think they "earned" their welcome when they picked LSU over all the other schools? Playing times is what they have to earn now but showing them appreciation and saying welcome to the family is something they deserve.

I also think that with a relatively small budget it seems pretty costly to go drop a percentage of your budget on kids that have signed

If you want to acknowledge the class fine, wait till it's all signed and then do a sign with all names and say welcome to LSU.

I'm all for it. Recruiting is so competitive and so important these days that every thing you can do to separate yourselves from the competition you have to do it. And I'm guessing this is another example of Austin Thomas' doing his job.
Oregon uses it relationship with Nike to have unique uniforms for each game and they offer it as a selling point to kids. Now LSU is offering something unique without being a gimmick.

What's dumb about it? Here in Atlanta, Clemson has bought space all over the city. You think that hasn't paid off from taking talent away from UGA, GT, etc?

Kind of OT but earlier today I saw a Come to LSU billboard in downtown Houston along I-45N...it had a purple color comprising the state of LA with a gold star where BR is.
