If LSU signs Ed Alexander, Shavar Manuel, and Rashard Lawrence, that would give LSU 3 of the top 7 DTs in the nation. Not to mention Glen Logan who is a beast himself who ranks as the 22nd best DT nationwide. (If the Tigers sign Rashan Gary it would give them 4 of the top 7 and 5 of the top 25, but I went with what most would feel is a likely scenario)
Now in the defensive backfield, LSU has Savion Smith committed as the number 2 corner in the nation, and is looking like a lock to get a verbal from Kristian Fulton who checks in at number 4 nationwide. Not to mention, a lot like Logan, we have a home grown stud in Greedy Williams who checks in at number 21 among corners nationwide. (LSU still looks good for the number 3 corner as well in Trayvon Mullen, but I'll leave him off for now to keep the most likely scenario.)
At safety, LSU has the number two safety on board in Eric Monroe, and also has another Louisiana product in Cam Lewis who is ranked 13th as a safety. (LSU is fighting for the number 3 safety Deontay Anderson but I'll leave him off for now)
Let's not leave out the Linebacker crew, where LSU has two of the top 5 OLB prospects on board in number 4 Michael Divinity and number 5 Erick Fowler. The third LBer pledge is listed as a DE in Rashaan Thornton, but he may end up being the best of all three. Absolute monster that LSU just found and got on before anyone else. (LSU is also hard after number 6 Jefferey MCullogh and number 7 Keion Joyner who may or may not actually exist, but I'll leave them off for now. Though I think they end up getting one.)
Another stud who slipped my mind is Rashaun Smith, the number 2 ILB from IMG who LSU is trending HUGE for. Signing him would give LSU 3 of the top 10 LBer prospects, inside or outside.
So, if you take the top 7 players from defensive tackle, corner, safety, and the top 10 LBers inside or out and make a top 31 (about how many 5 stars 247 gives out a year) LSU would safely be looking at signing 9 of the top 31, and possible to sign 14 or 15 of the top 31. That's absurd my friends.
LSU really needed to go out and sign depth on the defensive side that can come in and play for a championship contender next year, and as you can see they have done that. And I have a feeling a few of those guys it's maybe not 100% likely we sign as of now end up signing with the Tigers. What a time to be an LSU fan.

We have been getting a lot of offense these past 2 classes this defense class is needed. Hopefully we are pretty balanced next year.

Last year we signed a lot of explosive playmakers. Arden Key is gonna love all of these DTs coming to give him one one one opportunities with OTs for the next couple years. And Toliver will be the cornerstone of the secondary for the next 3 years.

Lots of twists and turns until NSD. This year could very well be a spectacular year.

It would be great for LSU to finally have Alabama levels of depth on defense. I feel that with Grimes in charge of offensive line, Wilson pulling in skill guys, and Cameron working QBs, we're in for the platinum era of LSU football.

I haven't seen much on Blacklock and Raekwon lately. Are we still in the thick of things with them?

What are the percentages for the ones you mentioned that are not commented?

I don't think this recruiting freight train is going to stop after this year if we keep all of these guys on staff. This staff of recruiters is pretty much ridiculous. I mean Xs and Os play a part in how good a defense is, but I really don't think it's gonna matter too much who's gonna be coaching the guys that O, Raymond, Steele, Frank, and yes even Peveto are bringing in and going to bring in in the near future. Studs all over the map. The U type talent

We can all thank Kevin Sumlin

I know that so much depth has to be running through Mullen and Anderson's head. I really doubt Thomas or Jefferson leave this year, which gives us Thomas, Toliver, Paris, Xavier, Gage, Greedy, Jackson, and likely Fulton at CB, and Cam Lewis, Battle, Monroe, Smith, Jefferson, and Adams at safety.. Now I know we run nickel a lot and dime when we go with 3 down lineman, but I honestly think it's out of necessity because of our LB corps is just such a huge drop off after Beckwith and Debo.
If LSU can keep the 4 we have now committed plus Smith, we should get at least 2 legit starters out of that group.
