I don't know if anyone else feels this way or has done what I have done but since the debacle this past January, I have not followed the name or stories until they commit or until they are signed! I was even a member of 247 but I have since cancelled. I will NEVER allow myself to get wrapped up again! I will not read every story or watch video until after they sign if February. It will be like the "old" days when you would read about them in the Advocate.

Recruiting is cut throat man. Even Saban does not win them all in his home state. The current heisman is from Alabama. Saban wins with out of state talent that drinks his coolaid.

247 is worth a sub simply for Sonny and Shea's dedication and passion. I learn more about not just the players/prospects but the team itself on that site. Good articles, good writers and good posters make for a great value. Point is, you get what you pay for, I'm not going to knock any sites and if you don't mind getting your info a little later then don't pay but it's not like it's going to go away

This. 247 Sports is LSU football, Basketball and Baseball news (obviously more football related) but gives me information and inside stories / interviews that I wouldn't be able to get from anywhere else.

sorry that you can't handle the decisions of 17 year olds that make you go crazy and have to cancel your subscription. you shouldn't follow recruiting if you get this mad.

While neither of you actually sound mad, of the two of you, you sound madder...

I'm definitely not mad, I've found the zen level of recruiting addiction, not ever being surprised or expecting anything

This has been the quietest recruiting year I can remember. There just aren't that many dramatic prospects this year, and all the writers are a little gunshy. You couldn't really be all that wrapped up in it if you wanted to be.

Despite going 2 for 5, we had a great, great class. We have two WRs, a QB and a RB who could all be starters by the end of the season. We also picked up some #1 prospects from Texas, Miss, Okl, and Illinois. IMO, the two in state lineman were the biggest loses but LSU will be fine. I understand the disappointment in the all-star game but the sky is not falling.

You mean the debacle in Juanuary where we got to see possibly the biggest recruit in LSU history commit on national TV not to mention a ridiculous 5 star safety from Texas? That debacle? Yea man, that sucked arse.

Don't listen to all the haters. Recruiting is good for information on players. But all the predictions, rankings, and other crap makes it unbearable. I enjoy recruiting as much or more than anyone simply because I like high school sports and seeing elevated skilled players. But all the handling, elite this and that, tweets, etc are just plain stupid.
All everyone has is a prediction, period. Even Les can only predict, and that's why even he is wring on several big recruits. It's a game to them and very few coaches hold them to any kind of ethical standards. And guess what, those coaches are the ones fighting character issues day after day till the program runs em out.
I too have zero subscriptions, why would anyone. It amazes me people pay money for unreliable predictions. But I do understand there are quality individuals writing solid articles on many sites.
All we here now are crystal balls stuff LOL at anyone who trusts those.

I understand your statement, it left a bad taste in my mouth as well; but at the same time, I learned to understand that there are always going to be some prima donnas full of themselves and trying to play games with recruiters and tweet complete bs, but it's part of the process. We are not going to get commitments from every player we recruit, even in state. As an example, I was shocked by CamR committing to Bama, but at least he did it early, so we didn't waste time up to the last day on someone we probably had no real shot at, because he was in love with Saban. Most kids are straight forward and honest, but you have to accept there will always be a few that are going to play mind games and get the most our of their 15 minutes.
