2009 - Chris Garrett - I thought he was always going to be the QB over Shep ... didn't think he'd walk so soon.

Ummm, his scholarship "Wasn't renewed" brah. No walking there, he was just that bad.

-Bought into Joe McKnight being the next Reggie Bush
-Bought into Russell Sheppard being the next Percy Harvin
-Thought Ryan Perrilloux would be the reason we repeat
-Thought Xavier Carter would blow us all away.. in football
-Thought losing Janzen Jackson would haunt us
-Saw Chris Davenport as the next big thing on our line
-Thought Andrew Hatch would be smart and.. nevermind..

I never understood why everyone that Xavier Carter was going to be great? Did you all grow up Al Davis fans?

Jai Eugene.

Thought he would be that special playmaker/superstar in the secondary.

ETA: Al Woods as well.

He was a highly recruited 5 star coming out of HS, no?

Huge pick up for LSU at the time.

I was high on Ronnie Vinson also
His look and frame. I thought he was a huge sleeper

Next of course, Davenport, not many of us that didn't think he could have been NFL ready by now

hard to believe this guy was our Starting QB immediately following a NC. This is what happens when you use the "all your eggs in one basket" approach to recruiting, not signing a QB the year before or after RP.

RJ Jackson had an awesome video coming out of high school in Texas

He was the player of the year in Houston his senior year, but yep, he never recovered from the knee injury. However, he did become a good special team player...

I heard that the staff offered Brandon LaFell to get RJ Jackson. We all know who turned out the better player.

I thought John Williams was going to blow up.

It happens to coaches who get paid hundreds of thousands to several million a year to do it - I guess we shouldn't feel so bad.

Since this is a confession thread, I'll go ahead and say it. I was excited for our future at QB with JJ after seeing him in HS.

This thread smells like the Rant, tbh

Ron Vinson and David Jenkins. I really liked both in HS. I thought both left too early and could have worked themselves into same playing time.

I thought they could find a use for Chris Davenport eventually, but that never panned out. He's a great guy though and I hope he's able to find his way at Tulane.

I liked Brandon Worle and thought he could be the next solid fullback at LSU. Of course, his HS teammate and former DT ends up being the answer...
