We, along with several other powerhouses, kicked Herman's arse last class.

So what are your realistic expectations for this season at Texas?

Who were those teams Herman lost to last year? They were ranked powerhouses right?

Tom wins those big games against FSU, OU and Louisville. Then finds a way to lose to Navy and SMU.

Everyone thought Herman wouldn't improve Texas quick was pretty much wrong

And they are way ahead of Alabama too.

C'mon Man! Recruiting has just barely started.

Good luck on your next post OP.

Recruiting plays a huge part in winning. The last 10 NC had a top 5 recruiting class expect for Clemson

Didn't realize the new early signing period was June 6th.

Realistically I say 8 wins this year. Next year should be the year. We will be absolutely loaded in 2018. But we live and die by the defense this year. They will be the reason for 8 wins or 10. The offense will be fine. Qb, rb, and skill positions are great. It's all on the defense

They pulled top 10 classes with Strong while losing every damn game. It's not breaking news that Texas gets good players...... They play in a charmin soft conference, don't see anyway they don't win at least 8-9

Actually.. He's undefeated as an underdog. That's pretty impressive.

We really don't want them to build a juggernaut out there. We've been able to supplement a lot of the talent Saban is stealing because of Texas' misfortune, but that will certainly be impacted when they start winning again.

We just need to start winning first, and I think we've got a better foundation at this point.

We'll see how their class holds up (UT) when the likes of Cale Gundy and McKinney over at TAMU really laser in on trying to flip some of those.

With a first year coach, that's going to be the big fear and warning sign.

Honestly I20 I think a lot depends on what goes on in the season. Someone is going to try and flip some of those Texas recruits. If Sumlin struggles it won't be him, if Canada shows out it may very well be LSU.

More will pass us in the next few months also, which shows you that you should never really focus on those rankings this far out.

Also, let's face it, Louisiana is down this year. No top tier RB (hell, not even a decent one), no top tier DL, our best safety is a 3 star, and no OL even in the top 30 of the state (highest one is ranked 714 in the country out of all players).

The only power 5 level starting QB went to TCU and it would take a banner year for an LSU QB to get him to come back.

We still have Marshall and Surtain that will probably give us our 5 stars for the year. Keys or Jason, or Chase will be here (which means 1 more 4 star).

LSU should finish inside the top 10, but this class is going to be more on numbers and less on star power.

Texas and many were very much surprised that he couldn't pull off a top class last year like Ed O pulled off.

Because Les never stopped recruiting. We had 18 or 19 commits when he was fired.

In 04, when Saban left on Xmas less than two months before nsd, LSU had 8 commits.
