Only a sophomore, dominated the first game against ellender, his first varsity game. 151 yards and two touchdowns when he was pulled in the 3rd quarter. I've watched him since 8th grade and the kid is absolutely insane, not a very big guy, 5'9 150 but great speed, running vision and runs like guice. Only a sophomore and first year in weight room so size will come.

What is it about that area that produces almost no talent? I'm from there too so not hating on the place.

Poorly coached teams, it's hard for many of the athletes to look good playing, or just to get a coach to come look at you period because coaches think there's not much talent there when you see a 2-8, 3-7 team. Plus, many from Tbonne/Lafourche that are talented enough to play at the next level end up not making the grades.

Also, many of the better athletes in the bayou area are playing Baseball/Basketball not Football. Look at the amount of college baseball players from the bayou and how good the area has been at basketball.

** Once more thing I want to add. I notice that almost no kids from the area go to camps. I think that hurts a ton too.

Keshawn played football for me since he started at age 9. He's sort of a late bloomer as he started to really come into his own around 11yrs old. Very good kid coming from a very good family. The sky is the limit for this kid! Oh, and he will get bigger, stronger, & taller, just give it time! He will not be a "small" RB when it's all said & done. Look forward to watching him show out in high school!

Yes they did. They are called Westside Braves & Westside Gators. They W/S Gators are no longer, but the W/S Braves are still riding strong!

I disagree on the poorly coached teams aspect. They have had some good coaches in the area recently. Now I'm not to sure about Lafourche schools, but I feel Terrebonne parish's problem is wayyyyy too many high schools. 7 high schools for a population of right over 100,000 is ridiculous. Turns into watered down football teams.

However, I do agree with your statement about some of the athletes concentrating on other sports. Baseball & Basketball has been very strong in the bayou area recently. But that takes away some of the "football" athletes off of the football field.

There definitely is to many schools in Terrebonne, but coaching as a whole in Terrebonne/Lafourche is not very good. I'm not saying there are not good coaches, but as a whole it's not very good when you compare it to other areas of the state. Just look at the last time Terrebonne made the playoffs, they were loaded and played Mandeville team that had nowhere near the talent they did, but they got out coached badly and had to squeak one out.

The poor coaching in the area has alot to do with the low pay for Tbonne/Lafourche. You get both less quality and quantity because the better coaches go to higher paying school districts. Often schools here end up with smaller staffs of younger guys just starting out.

Same here, only lost 1 game in 5 years under the coaching of one of the best coaches to ever walk the sidelines of Terrebonne Parish, Roger Franklin.
