How much egg did Miles have for NEVER recruiting a good QB?

He basically got fired for it.

I think someone told O to shut his mouth before we lose this class

LSU will learn that O is a very loose cannon. He is in over his head. If it leads to Alleva getting the heave hoe, then maybe some good will come of him being the HC. How could he totally frick up the QB situation? Wow.

I think O and Brennan have remained in contact on a regular basis since all of this started and they have this thing worked out.

I sure hope so, but the outward perception is that Brennan is pretty much gone...
I just wonder if Kiffin isn't just playing us along too...

How do you know that he fricked anything up? February is a two months away. Let it play out before you chicken Little out.

Quite true. Miles' inability to get good quarterbacks and develop them was the main reason for his downfall at LSU. That, and his stubbornness in refusing to adapt his offensive philosophy to keep up with the times.

However it's still puzzling why the last minute offer to Tagovailoa at the expense of potentially losing Brennan.

It's definitely a head-scratcher. Unless we find out some very good reason why Coach O made this move, I have to conclude it was a dumb gamble. Losing Brennan over this would be a big loss, imho.

It's because Brennan hs coach said if it's lane it wouldn't be good.. Since lane is #1 target for OC I think they are guaging other options just in case

I don't understand why every position on the team except QB the players have to compete for playing time and best man wins, but QB's fear competition and demand to be the team's only option at quarterback or they will go somewhere else

Has Kiffin totally sworn off the offense he ran for the majority of his coaching career?

This has to do with the coaches' ingegrity and how these players were handles through their 6 month committment. With no real or permanent OC and QB coach nor a offensive minded HC the qb position recruits were really left to flounder in an uncertain scenario where their future with LSU was concrened. BUT they both stayed committed through it all. All the while having shut down their recruiting process and contacts with other schools, possibly to their detriment. Now when a head coach is named he gives his only 2 qbs totally different offensive schemes and philosophys in under two weeks. Then the HC sends a message that obviously he is not satisfied with one or both of his long committed qbs and makes a last minute offer to a qb recruit that has never been in any conversation for LSU qb until that moment. So it is not a fear of competition for these qbs, competition is a given, it's now a fear of trust and integrity or a lack there of for the lsu coaches and administrative staff. That's the difference.

I don't think so but 2 of 3 yrs he had DT's and had a lot of success.. He won. Title with Coker but I think he prefers the other two qbs he had. He's always been good at adapting to qbs skill set so either way I just want him at Lsu. I think even for just a year or two he can kick start the offense and O needs that badly

Would kill us, but if you will remember, McElwain's first class at Florida was way off too. O can cure this next season with a strong showing. I don't mean beat Bama, because I have given up on that idea until Saban retires...but the other games are crucial.

Maybe not in those words, but if you think a 17 year old can't perceive trustworthiness, you are fooling yourself.

Mikes recruited several highly rated QBs. If I remember correct several 4 star players. They just could not develop the QB.
