The individuals themselves,coaching?
We had 2 this year, FREAK and Craig Loston.

The player. If the same coach develops a 3 star and put him in the league but a more talented 5 star doesn't make it, you can't blame the coach.

Injuries on lostons part.
Freak shouldn't have left early and clearly didn't impress any team with his play or personality. He was given every opportunity to succeed and fell flat, that's on him, not the coaches.

The "freak" peaked in high school, imo and he also failed a drug test.
Loston has trouble with staying healthy.

You can't make a blanket statement about an entire group of players like that. Johnson was given bad advice to leave early (apparently) and was apparently not known for being a hard worker. This combined with a drug red flag explain his not being drafted. Loston had injuries and simply never developed into the player that it looked like he had the potential to be. It's hard to say if that's on him, the coaches, or no one at all.
Five stars can be complete busts even if they and the coaches work really hard. Russell Shepard, Shon Coleman, Chris Galippo, Jeff Schweiger, Marcus Vick, Ben Olsen, Ryan Rerriloux... all these guys were busts and for lots of different reasons. Some worked hard and did the right things and simply were never successful, others were injured, others had bad attitudes.

when *5 stars go undrafted
Phd's do stupid shite, NASCAR drivers wreck shite, therapists do become alcoholics, and 3* DB's win Heismans as QB.

This and it also took Freak quite a while to mature and start trying. There were always complaints he wasn't pulling his own weight.

you can't blame the coaches on this one. both were starters and were given ample opportunities to shine during their time here.

LSU wasn't the only school to have 5*'s go undrafted this year.

I prolly wouldn't include Shon Coleman on that list

Themselves !
The player has to put in the work needed to get to the next level period.

the recruiting service because they overrated the prospect in the first place.

I'm actually surprised this thread didn't go how the OP wanted it to go and turn into a "Fire Miles" thread.

do we blame the NFL coaches when a 1st round draft pick flames out?
Posted on 5/12/14 at 8:41 am to FLBooGoTigs1
about 45%-50% go undrafted, so no big surprise statistically.

Yep. Just look at Jackson Jeffcoat from Texas.

when did he start doing this?

Why blame anyone? We had more players drafted into the NFL than any other NCAA team, for two years in a row. Obviously, LSU players had ample opportunity to show the scouts what they can do.
