Lowell will compete. Brennan has a ways to go. He won't be "given" the job.

I'm not too worried about it. We still had 200 yards passing and it should have been much more if not for the drops.

People can use all kinds of half and partial truths in negative recruiting. It's up to our coaches to convince the recruits of the reality.

No kidding. We let an incoming freshman compete with an incumbent starter through fall camp. What makes people think we're not going to let a redshirt freshman compete with a sophomore?

But he has to know LSU will have a different, better passing QB & a more experienced O-line in the next couple of years.

Yes, DJ Chark averaging 24 yards per reception is going to look so bad.

First of all that is just not true. For one watching on TV, it is impossible to see each receiver. Secondly, at least two LSUs receivers are capable of winning about every 50/50 ball. Especially Sullivan. But Davis can as well. Etling doesn't throw enough of those. He avoids the turnover like the plague, which is good on one hand, but vastly limits the offense on the other. It's like playing blackjack. You can't be a great player without busting sometimes. And that has been the Miles curse on LSU QBs. They play not to bust. Which basically cuts the offensive potential in half.

Let's see we have a Heisman candidate at RB and faced one of the worst run defenses in the league and some of you idiots are questioning the LSU offense and blaming Danny Etling after Guice ran for 270 plus yards and became the 1st RB in the history of the SEC to have 3 games of over 250 yards. Not even Bo Jackson or Heshel Walker did that. Yet, you think that a WR recruit is going to stop considering LSU because LSU didn't pass to WR last night?

Well if a recruit is that selfish and doesn't look at anything but his own position instead of the team's goals & other players situations and how LSU uses them to win a game then he can go somewhere else.

You are correct. It's impossible to see every receiver on every play. But over an entire game it's obvious that some receivers are just not getting open. And the idea that we should throw passes to covered receivers and let 50/50 decide the fate makes little sense. Especially when you watch teams like Louisville and Oklahoma State throwing to receivers 5-10 yards open.

You obviously don't know football. NFL QBs throw to covered receivers all the time. The back shoulder throw is to a covered receiver. They throw 50/50 balls all the time. When you have 6' 6" 235 lbs or 6'3 220 lb WRs who can jump out the gym, you give them opportunities to dominate smaller DBs. You don't only throw to them when they are wide open. Sullivan's first catch was a 50/50 ball that he leaped over the DBs and snatched out the air. Both those guys could dominate DBs, given a chance. And we have similar sized WRs on the bench. If a WR must be wide open to get a pass, what's the point in recruiting the taller, bigger receivers?

Do you know why Jimmy Graham and other former basketball players are considered great for football? Because they know how to go get the ball when "covered." They know how to box out and position themselves for the contested catch. They know how to rebound in traffic. Separation and being wide open is overrated. And is only a necessity when you have ineffective QB play.

Louisville and Oklahoma State aren't playing against the consistently higher level of DB play LSU faces in the SEC. I guarantee their wideouts would not be getting wide open against LSU DBs or Ole Miss DBs for that matter.

Sullivan had a chance in the end zone. Perfect pass. Dropped it. Gage had one go right through his hands on a slant. Etling threw a 50/50 ball to Chark and got a PI. We also had several dropbacks with potential deep balls where there was almost immediate pressure on Etling.

Keep reaching though.

Kansas not scoring a point in its last 113 minutes of football helps our chances with any Louisiana receiver committed to Kansas

I know that this is an irrelevant stat given the context of this discussion, but Kansas hasn't given up less than 42 points to their 5 D1 opponents this season. Like god damn, there's bad, then there's awful, then there's a complete disaster, then about 5 more levels down there's the Kansas football team. The fact that Jason is even humoring them is nothing short of amazing

Everyone here is missing the real issue. This is not a LSU issue. Why would these players chose to go to Kansas? If they don’t want to go to LSU because our passing attack is not great then fine, but why Kansas? There are literally 100 other schools that would be a better fit and give them a better chance to get to the next level.

Something is fishy here, and if it looks like a duck and smells like a duck, then well ya know.

I'm not saying everything is above board, but it's possible that the shenanigans aren't necessarily recruiting violations either. Apparently Tony Hull has a lot of influence in New Orleans and these kids commitments came almost immediately after Orgeron fired Juluke, which I'm sure you remember, cause quite the shite storm in NOLA.
