Sione (2014 3-star DE) and Maea (2015 probable 5 star OL) committed to Texas yesterday, but LSU was runner up.

Sione Teuhema 2014 DE
Maea Teuhema 2015 OL

"I thought we were going to LSU, I really did," he said. "It was dadgum close to being LSU, done deal, and we almost committed that day while we were down there. It was that strong of an impression. But when they got home and realized just how far it was, they went back to Texas again and started talking about how much Texas felt like home."

Would you have been ok with using a spot in the 2014 class to get a stud in 2015?

Havent seen much discussion about these guys on the board, and its been pretty slow around here lately.

I don't think anyone thought we were going to get them. I'm surprised we were this close.

Nope. Our 2014 class is already struggling with numbers, the last thing we would need is a placeholder tossed in there

Yeah it's like an 8 hour drive, but it's a 2-3 hour flight. Nothing that's too bad

This is true. I dont think the staff was willing to really use the spot on the 2014 brother to get the 2015 one. Although, if we lose Cam Robinson to the dark side, the 2015 kid would have taken the sting off. He's a Top 10 type of player that class.

For a lot of people thats really long. Especially when you compare it to something thats a 2-3 hour at most drive.

To me 8 hours is nothing, I drove that nearly from ATL - BR when I was in school A TON of times

But I know so many folks who complain about trips over 3+ hours, too long for them. Also, flying is rarely cheap these days.

Signing Day is along ways.. they obviously like LSU a lot. I wonder if we could get them for an official visit on a Saturday night, if it would change anything.

That being said.. I still don't know if I want to give up a spot in this class unless we really miss out on GWillis, Clark, Godchaux

A&M only offered the older brother a gray shirt. I didn't realize and am surprised lsu offered a scholarship to the older brother.

Isn't a five star guard kind of like an all star middle reliever?

While the quantity isn't really there on Sione's offer list, the quality certainly is there IMO. I haven't watched his film, and truthfully, if I did I'm still no talent evaluator. My question is, do y'all think those offers, especially from the big time schools like Texas and LSU, are still there if he didn't have a 5* OL as a brother?

A starting guard will play almost every snap of an entire game while a middle reliever pitches only 2-3 innings so that is a bad analogy. Recruiting services don't like to give interior linemen 5 stars so he must be an amazing guard.
