Why is our OC making this so difficult? Sign Scott and Cole. 50/50 chance is better than 0.

People on here say Cole isn't any good

The top 10 quarterbacks in the NCAA this year are full of no names. It takes a coach working with them. Sign both of them and actually work with them.

Then Narcisse and Thompson next year

maybe it's time to sign a couple of kids who aren't studs but want to suit up for LSU, will stick around.

Exactly Roger. Some will be good some we will be a miss. Point is...what we are doing now is not working.

Long time btw now and signing day. We might flip someone else. You gotta love the drama that is recruiting.

Prep...there is no need for this last minute crap though. Les and Cameron have their heads in the clouds when it comes to a quarterback. They expect a 5* to come here when they have yet to prove he will be used or molded. Until they can adequately do either they must conduct the reasonable search, which is a guy who is a leader, tough, and can pass. There are plenty of these guys in the system who are right in our back yard.

They can get away with taking one this year and two next year if they feel that Etling is legit enough to compete for the job and provide quality depth. If not, then even if they feel good about Haskins flipping, they should probably offer either one of these guys or the kid committed to Louisville they are talking to, even if it's just a backup plan.
Next year will be the first time in three years we will at least have legitimate depth at QB. Another miss or two, and we will be right back in the same hole again.

The problem with that Roger, is that you end up with clipboard carriers, i.e. Clise and Kragthorpe, (which I guess it doesn't hurt that he holds for PATs and FGs). You can get kids all day long to come to LSU, but most kids that can take snaps at this level did not come here so they can run the scout team. Taking snaps for the scout team may be part of the duties, but hopefully we are reruiting at a higher level.

We haven't had a 5* QB on the roster in years, at least not one who remained a QB throughout his eligibility.

Look at the guys who were successful here in the past. Only J. Russell was highly touted. I would take a Matt Flynn or Matt Mauck any day --- they lead, they fight, and eventually they deliver.

Aren't Clise and Kragthorpe both walk-ons? If so, that really isn't the same thing as recruiting a guy to be a scholarship QB. Guys like Clise and Krag are usually here because they are either die-hard LSU fans and just want to be part of the program, or are looking to become coaches one day, and are using the opportunity to learn a system under a guy like Cam.

Someone with a lot of time today...look at the top 20 quarterbacks in Division I. If more than 25% of those were 4 or 5 *'s coming out of high school I will kiss your arse. The scouting services don't know quarterbacks.

I don't know if Clise and Kragthorpe are scholarship or not. My point was that you don't sign people because they are the two best (according to someone's criteria) and hope they work out.

You sign at least two every year. LSU has to quit this exclusivity crap. Sign them, let them compete...but quit zeroing in on one guy just hoping he will marry you at the end of a long date.

Matt Flynn was the #10 rated pro-style QB, Russell was #4. They were both 4 stars. I'm not sure why some people act as if Flynn was some 2 star nobody.

You really don't need to be 6'-3 to be a successful college QB. Maybe LSU should take a chance on some of these kids who have less than stellar measurables but are gamers.

No need to waste a scholarship on just and arm this year IMO. We have bodies on the team now that are serviceable. We need to coach them up and go after Narcisse and Thompson or another qb next year if we can't get a quality guy this year. Need depth in other areas to be wasting a spot on a guy that will never play or transfer in a couple years.
