LINK In his interview he sounds like is still considering his options... Scary to think how many stud DBs that have interest in us this year.

the end result will be the same as Charlot last year I think. We have an embarassment of wealth in the secondary so he's not a necessity as much as he is a want.

I would think any serious DB would consider LSU at this point. Given our history of placing successful NFL DBs, that has got to mean something on draft day. All things being equal, I would want to play DB for LSU over just about any other college.

I know combine, measurables, etc. means alot but at the end of the day, past success breaks most ties, IMHO.

I agree do you feel if we hit on all 3 Florida targets (Mullen, smith, ladler) do we take a Louisiana CB

you have to take some LA kids. I don't think they get Ladler. I think they get Mullen and we already have Smith. We need to take kids like Carter to keep connections happy in the state. Some may not agree with me but that's partially to blame for our North LA troubles right now.

We're recruiting Carter as a safety, and we would still take Fulton or Greedy even with all the Florida guys.

Someone asked the other day why Orgeron was given the northshore as his Louisiana territory. Carter and D Campbell are some of the reasons. It's not an area bereft of talent, and it's one we have to fight for guys in. We've averaged 2 or 3 guys from that area of the state in our recent recruiting classes.

So you sacrifice who's higher and more talented on your board to keep other people happy?

Man, alot of you put WAY too much emphasis on this mythical fence.

Let's use Carter as an example. He didn't get on the bus when it's time. If he loses a spot, who's fault is that?

Not sure we would take Greedy. We aren't taking his brother or Sylvie at this point so I don't think Greedy is an option unless he decides to separate from them, especially his brother. I like both brothers but our board is too stacked currently

I do NOTdisagree with what you are saying. BUT this deinitely comes into play in areas. Sometimes your best friend in recruiting is a happy high school football coach that you took a chance on his 3* WR insteaad of the 3* kid from nola. LSU made lot of enemies in some choices it made recruiting lesser known kids from nola instead of taking a chance on lesser knowns from north LA. Beleive it or not. There is a geographical bias in this state. I think this is less prevelant than people tthink, but it exists.

Also Ed O recruits anyone anywhere. He might be assigned to an area, but i can assure you, he's going far and wide to get the best.

And with good as this class is looking for us, I think get on board now or get left behind is the best phrase for it. If you want to be here, say so. If not, we have other fish wanting to jump into our nets.

It truely looks like a situation either you jump on board or you get left behind... First come first serve

Per DD this morning, sporting news has LSU ranked highest school in the sec and #4 out of the top ten football programs. Ahead of Florida #5 and Alabama #7. Has a lot to due with all the early entry's into the NFL.. Besides...we're DBU!

He recruits any position in his area, and his position in any area. No different than any other coach on the staff.

We would take Greedy, but we wouldn't offer all those guys to get him.

lets not get to arrogant here. you can't have first come, first serve with 5* players. in reality, they are in charge at this point. they can go almost anywhere. this applies to a lot of 4* players also. see mullens, fulton etc.

It isn't arrogance. It is reality. The best DBs want to play at LSU. We can only take so many of them. Hop on, or get left behind.

By that logic then, wouldn't the coaches in NOLA get upset if you take a chance on the 3* from Monroe over his 3*? Sorry, but the HS coaches have to get over it, if they have hurt feelings and try to steer kids clear of the state flag ship over a perceived slight in the past then it will haunt them in the long run, not LSU.
