Saban humiliating his cornerback on the national stage

Any parent with a son thinking of playing for Saban should go to NOLA.com, go to the Sugar Bowl recap in the Sports section. There is a memorable image of Saban yelling at his cornerback following a Utah reception. I saw it on TV but the image says it all about how Saban treats his players. The Times Pic had it in their story today but the image from nola.com says it all.
Any parent would hate their son being humiliated by their coach.
Any recruit should know....it's all about Saban.

Link?
Use the link button to the right and paste it in.
Too lazy to look for it myself, but would like to see it.

This is stupid. Who cares if he yells at the kid, he did the same thing at LSU. That is the type of coach he is, and it seems to work for the most part. It is college football, coaches jump on players for making mistakes.

I think I recall that exact play......Saban was almost on top of him and chewing his arse before the play even ended.
Thought he was going to get a sideline interference penalty....

Maybe we should just pat them on the back everytime they screw up.

So what was he supposed to do? Pat him on the back and say, "Nice whiff on that tackle kid, your making me proud"?

Thanks. There are 3 pictures in that set of Saban going absolutely insane. Wow. He did that at LSU but he seems to be doing it more now. I think he is losing it.
It wears thin after a while. People can only take that for so long before they just don't want to fool with it anymore, especially when you aren't winning any championships.

I highly doubt this is even a problem. Kids wanna win. He won this year, a lot. If getting yelled at is the price you pay to compete for championships, I think kids wont mind as much.

So what was he supposed to do?
Act like a 57 year old adult instead of a wild chimp?

Supports what I've been saying all the while.
Saban's Machivellean, in your face approach is the perfect coaching style to whip a program into shape. It works - and is accepted - if the team wins.
But the first time the team starts to lose, and it will happen, the team turns on that type of coach on a dime. This coaching style does not last the long haul...its a good quick fix.
I recall this same thing starting to happen the year he left LSU and the year leading up to it.

To get away with that kind of crap you have to be damned good at what you yourself do. And luckily for Saban he is a very good coach so it doesn't hurt him as much as it might.
Bottom line is that I don't think it's a strategic or motivational plan for him to do that during the games. I don't Saban can help himself. The old adage is that in practice you teach and in games you coach. But I think when the pressure comes in games he reverts to his natural state so to speak and that is what it looks like.

Coaches do that all the time. This is the same place that was in an uproar over Les Miles patting guys on the back when they screw up. Saban is kind of like the military approach. If you do what you are supposed to you won't have a problem. If you screw up he is going to rip you. I think most kids going to play for him know that. He has that reputation. Jackson got beat in coverage and then whiffed on a halfass tackle and the guy ran into the endzone. It hurt the team more than Saban hurt his ego.

Dude, that's exactly the way Saban coached when he was here. I remember in the Skyler Green late TD UGA game...Travis Daniels did something wrong, and Saban chewed his arse OFF. For whatever reason UGA ran just about the same play on the next snap, Daniels broke up the pass, and Saban was the first guy just showering praise on the guy. CBS even replayed the entire sequence.
Quit :beatdeadhorse: about the whole Saban thing. Live in the "now" man.

I really wish I could find that damn pic of Les yelling at an LSU player that someone posted the other night right about now. Some of you are just stupid as hell.
