I find myself becoming less and less interested in the recruiting cycles as each year passes. I don't post much but I used to enjoy following the process during the off season. We've reached a point where a "commitment" means nothing. I graduated from LSU in 92 and I've hated Bama for as long as I can remember. I grew up hating Bama. How is it that so many of our La "born and bred" recruits are now coming down to an LSU vs. Bama decision? Is it media hype or is it real? I have no problem with a recruit exploring opportunities outside of our state. That said, why is it that so many of our best kids come down to LSU vs. Bama. I actually want kids that publically state that they hate those MF'ers and can't wait for the opportunity to stomp their asses. If our La kids want to go to Bama...go. Just announce early and quit playing our fans. That's the part that bothers me the most. Any La kid that is going to sign a LOI to Bama...surely doesn't bleed purple & gold and is going anyway. We all seem to want our kids first and foremost but it doesn't seem that the feeling is mutual in many cases. I say...commit early and quit the "me first" drama. Again, if these kids have ANY loyalty to our home state, please do everyone a favor and just commit early. We will have ~25 players sign LOI's next year and those are the players that I will care about. It makes me sick to see all of the grown-ups arguing back and forth about how some post might effect a kids decision. If your not a Tiger...you're TIGERBAIT!

thank you

we'll get 25 good players, they'll get 25 good players, and on November 9th in Tuscaloosa it's ON!

but the recruiting I care about is where the local kids. some to LSU, some who can't play at LSU, where the kid from Chalmette ends up, who has to walk on, etc.

Because people don't realize that since 2000, our record vs Alabama is 9-5 and if not for mulligans and blind luck, Alabama wouldn't have won the last two titles.

duh...Saban is a God to 90+% of the nation after winning 3 out of the last 4 national championships and 4 of the last 10.

The other ~ 10% are in denial that a young kid would not be allured with the chance to play for him.

In the big picture, it truly is like an option to play for Bear Bryant to some kids.

We are fortunate that we hold on to the majority of the elite LA kids. The fact that we lose a few, especially to a media hyped coach like Saban, is not too hard to understand, and is not a disaster either.

I agree with the majority of what you posted but look at it another way. They have won 3 of the last 4 championships. They rightfully deserve the respect they are getting. Whether their schedule is easier or not is debatable.

Trust me, I hate bama and I also hate that they are brought up on this board daily. It pisses me off. I don't have a problem with Louisiana recruits choosing between us and them. I just have a problem when they draw out the process when they know where they are headed (e.g LC). We will be fine we just need to beat them and I think that will start to happen sooner rather than later. Our offensive production is what has been holding us back and that should change going forward.

When it comes to recruiting:

Caring about
Reading about
Talking about

recruits is cool.

However:

twitter feeds
facebook stalking
coming on here short of crying
bitching about some local guy that is looking (and may end up) somewhere else is...

well, it reminds me of a bama fan.

chill out, get a life, enjoy LSU football.

To be clear...I enjoy football as much or more than anyone. That's part of the point of my post...I'm tired of the drama around recruiting overshadowing the actual game on the field. The recruiting cycle seems to never end while the football season comes and goes in a flash. I would think that an La kid that wants to go elsewhere probably knows that very early in the process. If that's the case, just go ahead and commit earlier and save everyone (including yourself) from the emotional backlash. It's self induced and then we have to hear all of the crying about how our fan base did this or said that. Some kids don't understand the value of being able to leverage their exposure with LSU football into a lucrative job in the future. LSU fans are very loyal and have long memories. Go read the "where are they now" list on Dandy Don's site and ask yourself how many of those guys probably got some help in getting started. I know several that walked into jobs that were facilitated by LSU alums. It makes me sick to read all of the homers posting these arse kissing messages which ultimately have 0 effect on where the kid will actually go. It makes us as a fanbase look like a bunch of pussies and the Gumps simply enjoy seeing us act as such. We beat them on the field and everything will fall into place. I'm sure that Miles gets that.
