Everyone's post has at least a smidgen of truth in it...but seeing the total picture and knowing things that we don't and can't know is the problem with most posters...but the coaches do because it's their full time job to do so...so, why not figure that for now they have a reason for looking at this kid from Purdue or anyone else they choose to...by the end of the summer, we'll have a clearer picture of why the coaches are doing as they do...but I know some of you guys just like to "RANT"!...so be my guest...lol

All we know is that Brandon couldn't beat out Jennings last year. I don't think the coaches are bringing in Etling so much as Etling is coming here for a battle next year.

Pull his scholly he couldn't win the starting job as true freshman!!! We do know that Etling was the backup QB for a 3 win team.

You would hope so but let's ease up on anointing another QB that no one had even heard of before Thursday.

Any specific questions about the guy? I'd be happy to answer. UGA alum but grew up in Indiana and am a Purdue fan by birth.

Kid got the tar beat out of him his true FR year behind a terrible OL. BUT last year the line was markedly better and Etling looked scared. Got hit pretty hard in an early game when he held the ball too long and never looked the same. Arm strength is a plus...but accuracy, presence and patience are his biggest issues. Stares down 1 WR way too much.

I have no doubt he could do better with LSU's level of talent but Purdue also has 2 other Elite 11 QBs that in-game he clearly wasn't better than. He's the most physically talented QB we have but his mental makeup is highly suspect. Don't know if that was always the case or our shitty OCs doing though.

If correct, you just confirm once again why LSU should not offer this guy a scholarship to play football next year when they could find other college free agents or wait until F. Franks arrive into town, follow by the development of McMillian.
That guy is not worthy of a scholarship to LSU. As I alluded to earlier in one of my write-ups, this guy has confidence issues and has not thrown over 200 yards but four times in thirteen starts at Purdue. LSU coaches did not recruit him; he recruited the Tigers for a visit.

This is exactly the Jennings/Harris situation. What I tend to laugh at also, is the fact that LSU fans don't understand that we had average at best pass blocking the past few years. Maybe the higher level of talent and coaching by the new OL coach will take effect this year, but it's not like our QBs stand behind the typical Alabama or TAMU line.

I wish he had some type of game tape from last year on youtube, but all I could find was 1 or 2 highlight throws and some practice crap. If we don't even attempt to contact Park, I could live with Etling as an emergency QB.

Good move to bring Purdue kid in. Many who get paid to evaluate say the kid is legit. I'm hoping Harris is ready to take reins. This move isn't gonna hurt Lsu at all. We need depth badly.
