This is what one evaluator had to say, . . .

quote:

Philip Ely, undecided - Ely would fit best in a West Coast or spread offense. He has great timing and is extremely accurate on short passes. Solid mechanics.

Update:
quote:

Good: Ely comes from one of the nation's best programs for quarterbacks and he's next in line to be a big-time player. He was voted "Best Fit in any System" which speaks to his versatility.

Bad: At times, Ely didn't have the most pop on his ball. There were opportunities for him to fire it to a receiver and he floated it a little too much sometimes.

A Rivals article about the uncommitted guys suggested (as we already believe) that we are the team to beat for Ely.

Also said that "sources suggest that LSU leads for Uzomah," but I don't believe that one.

Says we are pushing hard for Brissett too (which we knew). Just summing it up!

ive posted this before. i watch a lot of north gwinnett on tv here in the atl. also, im also a former fb player and ng class of 91. i just dont see the qb skills with uzomah. (mechanics) even worse, if he plays for father time and the crow, i dont know that he can be developed. he looks very raw and needs a lot of development. hence, the problem. but we need to get as many potential qb's as we can. we need numbers right now. the more the merrier.

I read that too about Uzomah; but, how good is he? At 6'5" - 230 lbs.- and an impressive offer sheet, I would think that there would be more buzz about him on the boards. Am I missing something considering LSU supposedly leads for his services?

Then that explains it. LSU needs a kid that is already ahead of the game given the QB depth and concerns, but the experts seem to think that LSU will take at least 2 QB's in this class.

Looks like scout and rivals have given up on him as qb. TE maybe?

Also, is Ely going to make it at that size?

I want Ely most and then maybe Dak or Brissett.

Uzomah I would like to bring in and then just give him a shot but, if Lee stays, we can slide him to TE. He's a big athletic, smooth guy and his interview last week was AWFULLY impressive in terms of the head he has on his shoulders and the leadership skills that he possesses. Personally, I would love to have him, but only if we can get Ely.

What are our chances with Brissett? He seems like a more polished version of Uzomah as far as passing. They are about the same size and both duel-threat QBs.

I asked Alex Cate, among many, many other undersized QBs too. K?

Brissett is fairly athletic but I wouldn't call him a "dual-threat" QB.

What did he shoot up to?

Still at 5 on rivals for pro style and 28 overall on scout.

Probably refering to ESPN: those dummies finally got a small clue and moved his ranking up from #60 to #16.

I'd be pretty happy with taking the pair of Uzomah and Ely. Its a combo that would make the most sense with the numbers. Ely is one of the most studied and ready QBs in this class and Uzomah could be given a chance to see if he developes and if he doesn't make it as a QB he would definitely not be a wasted scholly as he could play multiple positions.
