I cant shake the feeling that Avery is gonna have a chris mitchell type impact on LSU.

Desean Smith put up some extremely impressive numbers at the combine. 4.71 40 and a 4.35 short shuttle at 6'4 225. Pretty quick 10 yd split too.

NBC Sports has a preview for the Army All-American game at 3:00 p.m. Central today.

They are playing the preview again tonight at 11 p.m. Central and tomorrow afternoon at 4p.m. Central.

I guess it's where VS. used to be. I looked it up on my dad's cable in Ruston. It's channel 732 on the HD channels there. LINK

Is it ALL shotgun or is any of that 3/5 step drops?

Ill take a QB who can do either... If we have to be in shotgun so be it.

Don't get me wrong - I'm excited to have a kid that is as poised and ready to play QB as Gunner Kiel appears to be. The ONLY reservations, before we annoint him the next Payton Manning, I have are these:

1.) Level of competition in High School

2.) A gimmicky, all shotgun offense that made him appear better than he really was.

Having said that - from the film I have watched, he stands up very tall, has great vision, good judgment, and delivers very, very nice passes - zingers when necessary and touch passes in stride when the opportunity presents himself. He does stare down some, but that's a common flaw coming out of high school where he had 1 or 2 "go to" guys. Subjectively, he appears ready to play NCAA football today, on January 9th, if necessary.

I just worry about the adjustment period for a kid coming out of an offense where he is in the shotgun 80 or 90 percent of the time and has to go under center 60 or 70 percent of the time at LSU.

That's all I'm sayin...

I'll have to go back and watch. The clip wasnt too long, but its easy to see what kind of talent this kid is. Hes throwing 50 yard bombs out of a cannon. Seriously, we have never had a qb with an arm like this. 2 qbs later they showed Z. Pike. Dude was lobbing the ball down the field. shite look like a roman candle compared to Kiel.

Yeah, we need to dial the hyperbole back, at least a little. I'm not sure he has the same deep ball as Russell or Jones. I think he has plenty of arm strength, though, and is extremely accurate. My only real concern is the dadgum under center issue.

Watching the preview on NBC Sports. Robert Wiener(?)from Tampa Plant is one of the East coaches.

He coached Georgia QB Aaron Murray, Purdue (former Miami) QB Robert Marve and Bama RS freshman QB Phillip Ely. He knows quarterbacks.

Would love to ask him about Gunner after the game.

Watching a preview of the Army All-American Bowl on NBC Sports(Old VS).

Darius Hamilton Five star Don Bosco DE who at one time said he wanted to visit LSU but never did, was being interviewed.

His current five is Cal, Rutgers, USC, Tennessee and Florida.

In the preview I'm watching Hamilton just said, "Playing in the Army All_American Bowl will be like playing in the SEC."

Can't believe he'd say that and then go to Rutgers.

If he goes to Florida or Tennessee he'll be a tough one for LSU to block.
