Also worth noting that, even with Mickey and Martin, there were times last season where we needed to count on a 6'4" forward without explosive leaping ability to defend the paint.

My simple 2 cents on this:

The coaches clearly wanted another big because they went after Kasongo pretty hard for a while, Dickerson is a better talent over Kasongo and we didn't land a big since then...therefore it would make no sense to at least not put a little effort in recruiting Dickerson.

Some of you baffle me trying to say Dickerson isn't any good. The guy is a Top 100 player nationally and played pretty well alongside Ben Simmons and in AAU ball. We are not UK or KU and get to pick and choose any 5-star we want, this is a guy you take, simply because you think he's an upgrade to at least 1 big we already have on the team (Bridgewater or Malone). Donovan and UF fans were expecting Dickerson to likely start this season, so that tells you what they think of him.

Dickerson is odd. He wants to be a stretch four but he can't guard it and struggles to play it offensively as well. This is about a pipeline and taking any player you can from it isn't always a good thing. If you bring him in and he doesn't play much year one and doesn't get to play how he wants you risk the chance of an upsetting guy who has connections to MVA and Georgia Stars (they are loaded in 2016 and 2017 on the circuit).

I like Noah and his game, simply trying to let y'all know like I have from jumpstreet about this situation. Don't get worked up if LSU slow plays it and doesn't put on the full court press. Trust the situation.

Thank you for coming on here and being a voice of reasoning. I've been trying to tell them all myself that it's a long shot. I hope it happens, because you can never have too much depth. Keeping MVA and the Georgia Stars is very important, but everything being reported from people in the know is that there's not much going on here. Maybe it happens, but don't expect it to.

We are on the same page Coach. I don't think LSU is really actively going after him. We would have heard more. I'm hoping Noah reaches out or coach reaches out at some point and gauges interest. If we don't get him, I won't be upset, but I do think he would be a great piece for us next year and the coming years.

What people in the know? Most people are citing insiders from a week to 2 weeks ago...prior for Noah getting released. There's so many reasons why Noah would be beneficial and it's crazy people are trying to dog the kid.

1) Depth. That's really all we have to say
2) We've seen Darcy, he's atrocious. Bridge is skilled but a midget. I have hope for Elbert but he was awful last year.
3) Noah doesn't have elite skills, but he put up major numbers for the the best HS team going against major foes. To think he can't come off the bench for 10 minutes a game and not give very good, quality minutes is asinine. He's a solid player that in year 3 can average 13 and 8. Why wouldn't we want that?

If UF signs you and Georgetown wanted you, then you aren't a bum. That said, I don't see Dickerson as a huge difference maker in year 1. However, he fills the on glaring hole on LSU's roster next year if he's willing to rebound and help protect the paint. After that he could hopefully develop a game like JOBIII who is who I see when I watch him play.

I think the coaching staff would love to get another big on the team to rebound, defend, and potentially block a few shots. With the uncertainty around Victor and the fact that Simmons is more of a wing than a post guy, another big would be great. Nonetheless, LSU is in a position now where they don't have to take a guy just to get a body in there. That's how you end up with guys like Tuba, Odo and Malone. While I'm sure they are all great kids, they're just not SEC caliber players.

The whole point is getting better talent on the team. Getting Dickerson means Bridgewater and Malone have to play less, which is a good thing.

i think you definitely make a push. i do see elbert and epps taking a step forward and im not sure we'll 'go big' much next year anyway. but its not like dickerson is a slouch or a project, you definitely make a call.

Ben Love, who is about as in the know as you can be. He is almost never wrong when he puts out info about LSU basketball and he has stated multiple times he thinks they save the scholly for next year.

LET ME BE CLEAR, I do not agree with doing this but I trust his info.

Dickerson is better than Malone and better because he's 4 inches taller than Bridgewater. Right there alone means you go for him

Noah has been released for all of what, 36 hours? Love put out something yesterday less than 24 hours? We may not go after him, but it's way too early to say we aren't going after him definitely. We literally will have 4-5 schollies next year. There's no guarantee we will get 5 players better than Noah next year, so it's ignorant to keep the scholly.

Will the SEC permit LSU to offer Dickerson a scholarship?

Yes, but there appears to be some disagreement about how long he would have to wait to play in relation to some SEC bylaw.

What are you referring to? The fact that he may not be eligible until January?? Or is there something I'm missing here??

Also my 2 cents:

You go after this guy hard. You're gonna have boucoup Schollies next year.....do some damage now and keep building momentum for years to come

Most people think Victor will be eligible to play at the start of the 2015 season.

That he hasn't played any meaningful college minutes as well. Not saying he's not good, but there's a lot of inexperience on our interior this season.

I'm on the getting Dickerson bandwagon as well. Yeah, there's good reports on Elbert and Victor, but what they do in practice and what they can do in games are two entirely different things. Might as well add another solid piece, especially when we'll have about 5-6 schollies next year alone
