For everyone that is freaking out over LSU not getting a #1 overall class. Check this out. The rankings of the recruits are by rivals and the mock draft is ESPN's Todd McShay's

#1- Andrew Luck ****
#2- Matt Kalil *****
#3- Riley Reiff ***
#4- Robert Griffin ****
#5- Morris Claiborne ***
#6- Justin Blackmon ***
#7- Quinton Copels ****
#8- Melvin Ingram ****
#9- Michael Brockers ****
#10- Courtney Upshaw ****
#11- Trent Richardson *****
#12- Luke Kuechly ***
#13- David DeCastro ***
#14- Janoris Jenkins ****
#15- Devon Still ****
#16- Mark Barron ****
#17- Dre Kirkpatrick *****
#18- Jonathan Martin ***
#19- Kendall Wright ***
#20- Nick Perry ****
#21- Lamar Miller ****
#22- Michael Floyd *****
#23- Cordy Glenn ****
#24- Mike Adams *****
#25- Ryan Tannehill ***
#26- Cody Fleener ***
#27- Chandler Jones **
#28- Ronnell Lewis ****
#29- Vontaze Burfict *****
#30- Alfonzo Denard ***
#31- Dwayne Allen ****
#32- Brandon Thompson ****

Doing the math there are
6- 5 Stars
15- 4 Stars
10- 3 stars
1- 2 star

My point being that the best players are consistently 4 and 3 stars not the 5 stars.

Make it stop ffs

You realize they have about 25 5* a year right? Compared to over 300 4* and almost triple that in 3*?

I wish that everyone was capable of understanding things like statistics. Then I would never have to read threads like this.

Percentage wise, this draft actually completely backs up the star system.

As everyone else is saying, these stats support the ranking system. Say there are 25, 5 stars per year. 6/25 or 24% of 5 stars get drafted in the 1st round. This is a much higher percentage than the 3 or 4 stars. 4 stars: 15/350 or 4% (just making up 350, not really sure how many there are normally.)

All the 5 stars in this mock draft weren't in the same recruiting class.

Do you not realize that well over half of these guys were 4 or 5 star prospects? And do you realize that there are much fewer 4 and 5 star prospects each year than there are anything else? You just proved your theory to be wrong.

This is just ballparking, but it generally works itself out. Some might come out early, but some come out early every year so it evens out.

No kidding, right? I've always thought the toughest position to evaluate is likely OL. One of these days I'll look at a stars vs draft position... my guess is that O-linemen would be the most often underrated.

Did you ever make it out of 3rd. grade?
Simple Math
1 in 5 5*...first round

1 in 20 4*..first round

1 in 90 3*..first round
Anybody that thinks the number of stars means nothing is an idiot.
