I cant understand why people feel we need this guy. every single aspect of his recruitment points to him being a head case.
also, LSU does not need a score 1st point guard......at all
I agree. I don't see why we need another guard. With Blakney, Sampson, Hornsby, Gray, and Patterson we are covered with SG's and PG's.
Possible Depth Chart:
Quarterman/Patterson PG-SG-SF
Simmons/Bridgewater PF-SF-SG-G-C
Blakney/Sampson SG-G
Hornsby/Gray SG-SF
Epps/Eddlestone SF-PF
Malone/RobinsonIII/Eddlestone PF-C
Possible Starters against small opponent:
PG - Quarterman 6'6" 190 lbs
SG - Blakney 6'4" 180 lbs
C - Simmons 6'10" 240 lbs
PF - Epps 6'9" 210 lbs
SF - Hornsby 6'4" 210 lbs
Possible Starters against large opponent:
PG - Quarterman 6'6" 190 lbs
SG - Blakney 6'4" 180 lbs
PF - Simmons 6'10" 240 lbs
SF - Epps 6'9" 210 lbs
C - Robinson III 7'1" 270 lbs
Backups/Rotations
PG - Patterson 6'0" 175 lbs
SG - Sampson 6'4" 180 lbs
SG - Gray 6'1" 185 lbs
PF - Bridgewater 6'6" 265 lbs
PF - Odo 6'10" 245 lbs
PF - Eddlestone 6'8" 245 lbs
C - Malone 7'0" 245 lbs
C - Robinson III 7'1" 270 lbs

you wasted all that time putting that together and forgot Victor.

I usually hate when people de-value a player once they commit elsewhere. However, Newman really doesn't appear to be a good fit for LSU. He's a much more talented version of Gray. His natural instincts do not fit with him being a distributor. He'll can be All SEC at Moo St, but LSU needs a talented big more.

And misspelled Blakeney multiple times.

Honestly after watching his highlights, I think his style of play would have hurt team chemistry.
Don't get me wrong he's an incredible player, but he would taken a lot of shots away from the rest of our team.
Sampson is also a player that likely won't be one and done and that we can start to build a team around.

Just curious, how many players are coming into college expecting to be one and done?
