I am hearing we might have received another commitment for this class but hasn't been announced. Either its this class or 2017

Nicky Dawson is one of the best female high school athletes I have ever seen. In seventh grade she won district MVP in basketball, and she quit basketball because she is better at softball. Absolutely incredible athlete

I have been hearing more and more about her. She really is the total package.

Do you attend the tournament in Sulphur? How many of the in state kids will be playing there this year?

357, I know this is redundant, but I reminded myself of Baily Hemphill and what was the latest on her. I know her name came up in a recent thread but I didn't remember her status. So I yahooed her today and found an article dated back to June of 2014 where it says she is committed to Bama. Are there any changes on her or is she pretty much is lost?

She is not coming to LSU. If she flips from Bama I would think it would be to ULL.

She went to a camp or 2, but Bama was always her favorite school from what I heard. Just happens like that I suppose. For a couple of years they were the class of the SEC. I can understand it completely. Some people/kids want to get out and see something other than Louisiana, no fault in that in my opinion. She could have went just about anywhere. If your favorite school offers, the visit goes great, the price is right, why not take it?

Nope...it would be LSU.

She really is going there because she likes the Bama asst. Habetz.

I'm not going to go into details about it, but I am 99% sure she is not going to LSU. If somehow she flips from Bama, it will be somewhere other than LSU imo. I would wager it's ULL, but I am not certain about that because I think a lot of schools would offer, a lot of money. I don't care who comes on here and post anything different, it's not happening.

I can appreciate someone who isn't going to waste LSU's time. Best of luck to her.

For 2015, if that Minnesota pitcher is as good as we think, I'd have to make LSU a lock for the top 3 preseason

Hoover and Walljasper will have a year of being groomed by Torina, and they should be 100% healthy by then. That's pretty huge. Plus you basically get the entire lineup back with a top class to push the competition and improve depth.

on paper it'll probably be LSU's best team ever. I wouldn't say NC or bust with the classes Torina brings in, but I'll have fair, yet very high expectations for the team

Yes, Sydney Smith has the chance to come in and win the #3 spot. Very talented pitcher. I expect Satchell, or Serrett to take over 2nd Base. Shemiah Sanchez will get different looks as well. She will DH, her bat is too valuable not to be in the line up.

I can't understand how this player stays under the radar.

Nicky Dawson is by far the best player in Louisiana and might be the best position player in the country. She hit almost .600 this year with 18 triples, 5 HR's and had 56 steals in 35 games. She scored over 70 runs this year. She is the fastest player I have ever seen on a softball field and her Coach (LSU All American Ashlee Ducote) also said she is the fastest player she has ever seen. Coach Ducote said she was a consistent mid 2.5 to first and would drop down in the 2.4's on occasion. If that is true, as a junior in high school Dawson would be the fastest player in the SEC, if not NCAA, right now.

Amazing athlete and player. Best get of the entire 2016 position player class and its not even close. Her upside is off the charts.

357, you need to check into the 2019 girl out of New Orleans that committed last week. Phenom pitcher who is in 8th grade throwing 67mph.

I also saw this pitcher and she sat at 64-65 and touched 67 quite a few times. I think I heard someone say she was 13 years old. Easily the hardest thrower I have seen for a player that age.

Big powerful lower body and will only get bigger and stronger. Great addition to the Tiger family.

If there is a faster player in the country than Nicky Dawson I would have to see it to believe it. This girl can absolutely fly around the bases. If she slaps it on the left side of the infield she's safe. I know we have signed some other SS's in this class and I have seen many of them but she is by far the most most gifted. I have been watching LSU softball for 17 years and LSU has never had a player as fast as her.

I was able to watch the Miss Dawson play in the Sulphur tournament. I guess I didn't see what you guys saw. I don't see her playing SS at LSU. With her speed I think she will transition to the OF. Most of the kids Beth is recruiting play SS in HS. This is due to them being the best player on their teams. I would pay more attention to where they play in travel ball, and what level they play. There are exceptions to the rules of course, but the rule is still the rule. The depth is stacking up. It's simply going to be which ladies can perform at the plate. That's going to decide who plays and who rides.
