I know 247 isn't as respected as ESPN (Basketball wise) but thought it was worth mentioning.

I like seeing it, but it doesn't make any sense that we're ahead of Memphis and Kansas - they have three 5* and 2 4* to our 2 and 1, respectively.

Well his specific link was to the composite, which currently shows 42 5 stars. I guess our 5's our better than theirs?

Smallest guy is 6'6
Lot of height in that class!

LSU is 3rd on 247 and on their composite. They must like our 3 non-HS guys enough to put us above kansas and memphis. we also have 1 more commit than either of them

Just curious...Does the signings of Malone, Odoh, and Deng spell that Coach Jones knows there is a good chance JOB leaves early?

I'm hoping it means more like we're adding a lot of depth in the post.

These ranking are based almost solely on the number of committed recruits. There is no rational reason to have South Alabama and their five unranked recruits above Dukes three 5*'s.

Not really. I think signing of Malone more or less confirms that Deng is not going to be a part of the class. Outside of JOB and ADP LSU has no depth in the frontcourt. They desprately needed help there, hence the signings of Martin, Mickey and Odoh. Plus LSU wanted Odoh to be a part of this year's team, it just didn't work out. JOB still may leave, but I don't think the signings of several big bodies indicates that that's a certainty.

Does the conspiracy travel even into the non-SEC Alabama schools? Bastards!!!

During the Trent Johnson time at LSU there was a lot of talk about him not recruiting Louisiana players. It was said that if we would throw a wall around the state like football had done that we could have great teams with the best players from Louisiana.
My question is this. Everyone agrees that CJJ's first real recruiting class is great. There is only one player from Louisiana on this list. So is CJJ a failure too because he isn't recruiting in state? What equivalent Louisiana players has he let get away?
Oh and I know Trent's problem was that he didn't hardly recruit anyone from anywhere. So the only point of this is to point out how stupid those people were who said we should mainly recruit from Louisiana. My comment at the time was that I had never met a coach who would turn down a good player just because of where he lived.
Kentucky supposedly has the number one recruits again. Only one of them is from Kentucky. Are the folks in Kentucky angry that he is ignoring the home town boys?

It's not that TJ didn't recruit LA, but that he let the best get away from LA. Jarrel Martin is the best LA kid since Big Baby. The only other players that are worth looking at either choose elsewhere (Jones) or got passed up by other guys (Bridgewater). While Bridgewater may still end up at LSU, I don't think JJ has done poorly with LA.
While it is dumb to keep yourself to only your state, keeping the best player in-state should be a high priority every single year. Especially when LA only produces 2-3 major guys every year. Hometown favorites do wonders for fan support and attendance, imo.
