5. Riley Pint, RHP, St. Thomas Aquinas (Overland Park, Kansas)

Pint throws 96-100 mph, with size and athleticism to go with a big fastball. However, scouts remain concerned about his ability to throw strikes, given his command issues and the effort in his delivery.

He will go top 3. 2 of the top college arms in this draft are struggling this year.

Don't expect him to end up in college but this class is going to be a very good one for lsu. Lot of good players coming in.

No kid that hits triple digits in high school is gonna make it to campus.

There are 2 that are pipe dreams. The others all have a good chance to make it in.

It's happened before but I would not put much money on it.

Was pretty much resigned to the fact that he was never coming here already. If we were vandy or UF, he would somehow make it to campus

Pretty sure Vandy is the only school that gets guys who are top MLB prospects and that's because something about them being able to offer better scholarships. CPM gets his fair share of guys who are draft prospects. We have several on the team now who turned down big money to play here.

Uf had a run where they snagged like 3 first round pitchers I a two to three year span.

If he makes it to campus that would be some Vandy magic.

Riley is my 1st cousin and he is a die hard Tiger fan. He will be 100% coming to LSU unless he gets a 5 million dollar signing bonus.

Well he will be drafted top 5 which falls under that $5 mill signing bonus.

I would like to think colleges don't spend too much effort recruiting these guys.....everyone has to know they aren't going to school.

There's no point in not extending an offer. You recruit as if he is not part of the class and nothing bad will happen, but if by some chance you pull off a miracle it won't be hard to find space on the roster. The problem would be recruiting 5+ guys on his level.

This years MLB deadline will be a lot more stressful than last years for sure. Zack Hess, Jonathan Gettys, Nolan Williams and Todd Peterson are all serious risk. Last year Cole McKay was the only true threat and I'm pretty sure he came out before the draft saying he wanted to go to school.

Unfortunately he will probably get that and more but you never know. Teams might opt to save money in the first round causing him to slide just far enough to consider school. Doubtful but it has happened before. Either way he has an extremely bright future.

That's a reason CPM can take a few more chances this year than normal. If he misses he won't be scrambling trying to fill spots.
