I just found a blog done by Eric Sorenson that gives a pretty detailed account of each day at the Area Code Games from a few weeks ago. This is best free coverage that I've found of the event. Here are the links to each day of coverage: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5.

Here are some pictures of some LSU commits from the event:

2018 Pitcher Levi Kelly

2017 Pitcher Nick Storz

2017 OF Jacob Pearson

2017 OF/LHP Daniel Cabrera

More Area Code Games housekeeping:

Nick Storz (2017 RHP, Brooklyn) was listed as a top 10 performer among pitchers at the Area Code games.

USA Today High School Sports

Unrelated to LSU, the top pitcher on the list Hunter Greene was also the number 10 position player. He's good at baseball.

PG recently updated their rankings for the 2017 and 2018 classes. I don't have a sub, so I can only see the top ten. No LSU commits in the top ten for '17.

Brice Turang and Elijah Cabell made the top ten for '18. This may mean the Cole Henry dropped out of the top ten. I don't remember where he was.

2019 OF (and defensive back) Maurice Hampton has been selected to the 14U PG Select Game this weekend. The game is at 7 on Sunday. It's being broadcast on some regional Fox Sports channels. The game is made up of players in the '19 and '20 classes that did not turn 15 years old by May 1st. I think that makes Hampton young for his grade but I honestly have no idea.

Here is the blurb on Hampton:
quote:

Good luck trying to find a player in the 2019 class who’s more athletic than Hampton, a physical specimen at 6-foot-1, 185-pounds. Hampton has already committed to Louisiana State to play both football and baseball. On the diamond he’s an advanced runner who can patrol center field but has the arm strength for right field and shows big-time strength at the plate with advanced raw power.

Really does. I didn't hold back and I turned 15 in April of my freshman year.

LSU picked up another commitment in the 2018 class recently according to Perfect Game. MIF Gavin Dugas of Houma Christian (Houma, LA) has pledged to the Tigers.

LSU also picked up a 2019 commitment (or 2021 JUCO transfer commitment). OF Chandler Hodges of Ozark, MO committed to both Delgado and LSU recently. I have been unable to track down any articles about him to know if he's part of LSU's 2019 class or an even further down the line class. I will add to the 2019 list for the time being and keep an eye out for what I find. As usual, any information you guys find is also welcome here.

Blayne Enlow is set to begin USA Baseball 18U trials later this month. He made the trial roster off of a good performance in the Tournament of Stars over the summer. Advocate feature

He will be joined in the trial games by Tanner Allen, Brandon McCabe, and Brice Turang.

I'm not too confident. He's always one of the top players at every event he goes to. And he's going to events for 2017s and he's a 2018. I don't like to be that guy that says we're not getting anyone because they're all going pro, but Turang is legitimately one of the top HS players in the country. If he keeps going at the rate he is, he'll be a high first round pick. He can play SS or CF and has a big bat and great speed.

Per Jheremy Brown on Twitter, LSU secured a commitment from LSUE and former Barbe catcher Hunter Feduccia. He's a player I've been following since tracking Coomes last season. I figured he would be on the radar due to LSU's penchant for taking JUCO catcher's from Louisiana (Romero, Scivique). Great fielder, good hitter. I'll start putting stats together on him from last season at LSUE and this summer in the Texas Collegiate league.

ETA: Freshman year at LSUE he hit .385/.482/.585. 3 HRs, 43 RBI, 14 Dbl, 3 Trp, 27 walks and only 19 Ks.

D1Baseball.com just released their first High School draft rankings (behind a paywall). Three LSU players made their list, Blayne Enlow, Nick Storz, and Jacob Pearson. They only ranked 50 players. Oddly enough, Florida International has 4 players in the top 50. One of them is the son of new FIU coach Mervyl Melendez, two of them are from Melendez' home island of Puerto Rico. It's a banner year for the island.

Storz will likely go pro
Enlow's stock is rising, with a big sr year he likely goes as well, before the summer he was more likely to LSU, he had an outstanding summer though
Pearson still seems likely to come to lsu but who knows, if one team falls in love with him, that might be all it takes depending on how high he goes

And another! Giovanni DiGiacomo, a 2018 outfielder commits to lsu.

ETA: Here is a blurb on Gio from this past summer at the WWBA Championships:

quote:

The overall tool package of 2018 outfielder Giovanni DiGiacomo (Naples, Fla.) is going to intrigue a lot of college recruiters as he offers both present ability and long-term projection. Listed at a long and lean 6-foot-1, 175-pounds, DiGiacomo already sports strength to his upper body while retaining looseness and allowing for plus speed as evidenced by his 6.45 60-yard dash at the Jr. National. A lefthanded hitter, DiGiacomo showed a nice handle for the barrel in his first at-bat as he did a nice job of staying back on a lefthanded curveball and pulled it through the right side for a single. And while his next at-bat resulted in a fielder’s choice it still allowed for a solid run time down the line, turning in a 4.20, though it’s easy to envision an even quicker time.
