One thing I've noticed is that we don't seem to use our mid week games as a way to groom a starter for the next season. Basically we either throw a starter that won't ever pitch on weekends or go wholestaff. No value judgement here, it seems to be working. But I think it means if McKay isn't in the rotation, he'll be in the weekend bullpen vs mid week starter.

To be fair it seems most weekend starters now come in and start as freshmen (or fresh out of JUCO like Bouman).

Poche
Lange
Nola
Gausman
McCune (Here's one that'll take you back )

Did Eades ever start on weekends?

Our main rotation for 2011 was McCune, Gausman, Alsup...holy shite

I think so, but I'm not sure. I still wish Eades and Broussard would have been two way players.

Apparently we've also got a JUCO shortstop from florida committed. He played at Stetson his freshman year and at State College of Florida this year. Mitch Piatnik is the name.

He's supposidly pretty good. The weekend rotation and shortstop will be the biggest postition battles of the offseason. Assuming the runner up to short moves to 3rd and Krob taking over 2nd

5'10 154 pounds as a freshman, holy hell

He hit .291 with essentially zero power this year in JUCO. I imagine he is a defensive replacement/pinch runner only for us. Or maybe if the rest of the lineup is still almost a sgood this year he could start and just be a black hole on offense

How is this even possible?

Dawson, a highly touted prospect from West Virginia, is expected to compete for the job of replacing Alex Bregman at shortstop. A team made a third-round offer to Dawson for $650,000 Tuesday, but he declined — something that coaches expected him to do. He said last week that his sights were set on attending college.

Jake Slaughter, 2016 LSU commit, quitting football it seems. Wants to concentrate and be prepared for LSU baseball.

Obviously, every situation is unique, but I don't like seeing kids quit other sports just to focus on one.

I think it is a smart move. Why take a chance at an injury in football when your future is baseball.

I agree. If he wasn't committed to a team the caliber of LSU, I say keep playing both. When you know you're going to LSU for baseball, why risk messing up your shoulder?
