It is odd. He must've thought he wasn't going to get many opportunities this year if he's willing to wait a year to transfer.

So, technically, we have a scholarship available for the 17-18 season?

Because he a student who has been here for the previous 3 years and probably likes it here and wants to finish his degree with out having to give some credits back via transfer. I think this is a wise thing to do, he doesn't take a up a scholarship so It should matter what you think. He is the guard looking on the outside of the rotation, he's the lone sr and coaches tend to play their younger players for development, let the kid live.

Dang, IDK where this came from... I've always been 100% for the player and their rights in most situations. I in fact would love for him to be an LSU grad. I've always appreciated his time here.

You are incorrect in the fact that they wouldn't play a lone senior in order to develop younger players. That's not how things work. Players get to play if they earn it.

All I was saying is that if his main goal is to play professional basketball in some capacity IDK why he would decide to completely sit out, away from basketball, for an entire year and then transfer when he could transfer now and at least practice with another squad, learn what their coach and program are about and then play the next year after his red shirt.

That is what doesn't make sense to me. But By all means I do not care if he stays at LSU to graduate. My entire comment was based off what seems like the more reasonable thing TO HIM, not to LSU or to ME.

He likely wants to graduate from LSU and then have a year of grad school paid for as a grad transfer.

It's not complicated. I doubt pro ball is a factor.

I posted this in one of the Patterson threads, but this is probably better suited in here

This could have something to do with the Patterson news:

Ole Miss Signee Jamarko Pickett Released from LOI

Since they did that, there's no restrictions on where he can go. His lead recruiter at Ole Miss? Current LSU assistant Bill Armstrong.

if so, there should be some leak of info soon. I read either on this board or 24/7 that a recruiting analyst thinks lsu is a possibility.

Yes, preferably a DeWayne Scales clone (6'9", 225, incredible leaping ability, prolific scorer) minus the personality issues.

Former Eastern forward Jamarko Pickett is now being “heavily pursued” by Georgetown and Maryland, a source told The Post on Monday. Pickett, who spent this past season doing a postgraduate year at Massanutten Military Academy, received his release from Ole Miss on Saturday. The 6-foot-7 forward is ranked 93rd in ESPN’s Top 100 for the Class of 2017, and his initial recruiting process only included visits to Ole Miss and Rhode Island. Now it seems that the D.C. native could potentially attend college close to home.

I'd rather sit on that scholly this season and use it in next year's class. '18 could be a huge class for us

No mention of LSU. Interesting. Maybe we're not in the hunt.

Josh Leblanc is ranked 63 now on 247. This is exactly the kind of guy Wade is looking for with his hustle and athleticism

@JonRothstein

LSU is also one of the schools in the mix for Southern Utah grad transfer Randy Onwuasor, per a source.

He's definitely a volume shooter but at least it would bring another threat.

Have to think though, if you add him to replace Patterson that's definitely making them better.

Randy Onwuasor,

I feel like I remember this name. Weren't we in the mix for him out of high school, and ended up Texas Tech?

Will say the numbers look great, until you look into shooting percentages. 41% from the floor isn't so bad, but 31% from 3 is pretty bad (Taking over 5 shots a game from there at that). I feel like if Wade can get his shooting under control he'd be a good add. Start him at the 2 spot. Problem there in lies where's our 3 point threat on the floor if we start Waters/Mays, this guy and Sampson?
