Although it is obvious that some of our defensive lineman are over hyped, we have a glaring need for linebackers. I am sorry, but Welter, Louis (first of all he always seems to be confused like Loston),Feist, Jones, and Phillips are all busts. The only young guy out there who is worth a damn is Kwon Alexander. Perhaps we need to go into Joe Pa's old territory to get some good old fashioned hostile linebackers. These 5' 10" 215 pound guys do not cut it. If we only sign one quality linebacker, we are in trouble.

He is right. The size of our linebackers are something you see in Division 2. And this defense with these small linebackers doesn't look any faster than any other larger linebackers we face every week. We don't need safeties playing LB. We need LB's playing LB.

How is it possible to strike out on so many recent, highly rated lb recruits?

We are small, realize it when the CBs that are suppose to be deep covering WR are making all the run stops because the LB are getting smacked down, what game were you watching? Jeese just have to out score folks, get used to it. No more field goals ever!

I would make Freak and 98 the mike and Sam, get some big dudes whoever to clog their holes, hell we surely have some o line man that want to play, plug them in? Or just never punt or kick field goals and try to out score everyone. That's what I wold do. We would have won tonight. Big! really we win with out the muffed punt buttt,?.....

Yes, Louis, true sophomore who played as a true freshmen in a record breaking defensive draft, who was a 4 star ATHLETE (running back, linebacker) who is playing behind a D Line that hasn't found it's rythm, is a bust.

You people need to realize what the frick you're talking about sometimes. That muffed punt and those blown coverages cost us the game. Quit playing the blame game and trying to look like Elite Talent evaluators. Especially in a hostile environment where Georgia put up 40 plus points in 11 of its last 13 home Games.

What are you talking about? We signed a class of mostly 4-star LB's not that long ago. Kwon would've been a 5-star had he not been injured his senior season.

Saban signs 240 lb. LBs. We sign 210 lb LBs. Our guys get pounded. Do the math.

I think what you are really saying is that it hurts that our defense isn't like last year's;

And our offense last year wasn't as good as this year's.

You're asking God to combine the two and that way we'd win a national championship.

***And for that, you are a fan.***

Just remember, Chavis changed our defense from MalVeto.....It's just one year of this and things MAY get back to normal. Let him pick his players, like he's been doing for his entire career...but then Mettenburger's gone. Life is a BITCH as a college football fan.

But then again, we ain't USC or Texas....they suck. So life ain't so bad.

We still control our own destiny, and I'd LOOOOVE to beat bama at Tuscaloosa. But temper those expectations with this years defense. We will be back. GEAUX Tigers.

I'll explain..

quote:

Besides welter, these are sophomores who all have made some plays in the action they have seen. A few of them got some solid playing time last year and made the most of it. This year it's obvious Chavis is going with experience over youth right now. It is absolutely retarded to say that they are all busts. This thread is just another common overreaction to an LSU loss. It happens every single time we lose. I understand we allowed UGA to get whatever they wanted, but a lot of it was breakdowns in assignments, not lack of talent. With experience we'll see less of these breakdowns. I expected this with everything we lost to the draft/graduation. We've always just been able to plug players in, but we haven't had to replace this many experienced players at one time before. It was always just a couple here and there instead of fielding a defense full of freshmen and sophomore. We'll take some lumps this year, but I fully expect this unit to improve as the year goes on and after another offseason. Patience guys.

Technically, Saban signs a lot of DEs and converts them to lbs, which is smart for playing in the sec. Chavis supposedly likes speed; how does that jive with Welter?
