Les Miles is the Best Recruiter in CFB

I don't think this gets said enough.
His comeback after the "5 for 5" thing and his even bigger comeback in recruiting after the failed coup attempt were both amazing. And he's already assembling another incredible class for '17. And not only players but he's assembled a great staff of recruiters.
Just giving credit where it's due.

No he's not. But he's a good recruiter.

Saban is the best recruiter in college football. Both the recruiting rankings and results on the field are in agreement.
Les is incredible at it, though. He has a strong argument for #2 IMO.

This is such a difficult thing to rank this way. He's in the same league as Urban, Nick and Jimbo though.

I'm as critical as they come about Les's offensive philosophy. If he's chooses to level the playing field on that side of the ball, the results on the playing field will follow. Saban has the "results" advantage right now that he can leverage in recruiting. Les doesn't; and yet he still reels in great class after great class.
If we had won four natty's since '09, this would hardly be a conversation.

quote:Saban has fewer obstacles to overcome. I'd say Miles is better. He recruits comparable classes in spite of not winning a championship every other year and without putting an offense on the field that includes the forward pass. There is no greater recruiting feat than getting elite wr's without a passing game with a pulse. It's also very important to point out that both have stellar recruiters on staff responsible for their recruiting achievements.
Saban is the best recruiter in college football.

I'd say
Saban, Harbaugh, Miles, Meyer, Jimbo are the top 5

nah, hes back end of top 10 though

Hes clearly 1 of the best. At Ohio State and Alabama even the unsuccessful coaches routinely made the top 10. Jimbo had the luxury of Florida and Miami being poorly coached when he arrived.but he knows QB's and he had no control of what he inherited. Definetely right time right place scenario.
Meyer had the same fortune at Florida when he first arrived. Saban being a former LSU coach and having relationships with HS coaches here plus the Bama brand , its remarkable that Les has held him off for almost all of the states top players. Landon Collins still stings.
Saban and Meyer are excellent and with their brands they will be the 1-2 favorites most years.
LSU would be hard pressed to find anyone better than Miles and thats all that really matters.

I think he's one of the best closers on recruits. Les is such a genuine man if he was at Alabama having the same success Nick Saban is over there. It would be hard to believe, but I think he would have had better classes, and they really don't get much better than the ones they been signing

Saben is by far the best recruiter, probably of all time. And it's not even close. He has run off about 8 straight consensus #1 classes, which are #1 by a lot. He picks what players he wants, while everyone else fights for the leftovers.
But yes Miles is still a great recruiter.

he doesn't recruit comparable classes but it still is great what he is able to haul in, expecially on offense, considering the archaic offense we have run in the past (should show signs of modernization this coming season)
I bet he pulls even with Saben in recruiting once we get this offense looking like a modern day offense

Alot of people seem to forget obj ,jarvis landry, and Zach...all they did was set records at lsu.If u studied the offense last year you will notice that the "jarvis landry"type of player was missing. What I mean is that move the chains possession type of guy, because there were alot of catchable passes dropped, and there were some bad passes too...so my point is les knows how a good pass attack suppose to look and it will show in 2016.

And he's done that when a lot of citizens and potential prospects were displaced all over the south. Numbers in that area of la still aren't back up to pre Katrina saban numbers.

Tap the breaks, FSU out recruited LSU for two decades prior to Les getting here. They aren't any more.

Yeah with how much money all programs invest and how much easier it is for schools to connect with prospects around the country, Saban has to be number #1. But even ole Les will put his foot down and not let him come raid LA.
