With the group of backs Bama just brought in with this draft class and still having Yeldon and Foster there I think that plays a lot into his decision. After this season we lose Blue and if Hill goes too then Fournette comes here and starts from day one IMO. That wouldnt be the case at Bama. Too much competition.

Where they will try to convince him to play LB. He's said that's one reason he's not crazy about the little bastard.

I just wish he would commit early so he could help recruit. I mean, why wait if you know where you're going?

Why would someone as good as LF five 2 shits about competition? If he is the best he will play. Period.

And he probably will be.

Competition still matters.

When LF arrives on campus, will he know the playbook as well as the upperclassmen? Will he have the experience in recognizing SEC blitz packages? What if your QB gets knocked out because the freshman RB didn't block the right guy?

It's not enough for LF to just be the best runner. If he wants to start as a freshman, he probably needs to be a considerably better runner. What if he gets a minor, nagging injury that keeps him at 95% for a while, like an ankle sprain that limits his cutting ability? Is he still better?

If LF wants to start from Day 1, there are plenty of reasons for him to choose the less crowded backfield of LSU.

Because until then he's wined/dined and treated like a rock star and will go on until he signs.

If I recall, letting Perilloux go was a unified team decision even though ultimately it was the staff and Miles who did the official dirty work...

He's going to be wined and dined regardless of if he's committed or not. Surely the coaches of every team are still going to be rolling out the red carpet.

I'm with you on the QB situation DrD. We've played Bama to a 2-2 record the last 4 games and that's without a competent QB like Matt Flynn. Given a good QB the past 2 years and LSU would have 2 more crystal balls in the trophy case and the writers talking about an LSU dynasty instead of Bama. While I hope that LF signs with us, it's not absolutely necessary. Remember Jacob Hester? He was a two star recruit and look what he did at LSU. Small fullback, but big heart!
As far as QB, I'm not looking for Mett to take us anywhere just as JaMarcus Russell. When Russell was in, I kept shouting for Flynn as he had better vision and better command of the game. We have signed another pro style out of Cali, but we've also got a dual threat that could be our best bet. It seems like they do a bit better in college than pro styles.

I said "draft class" instead of "class". Ehhh who cares ya bunch of bastards! Regardless, my point was that with less competition LSU seems like a more enticing choice for Fournette than Bama.

traveling across the country for free, for the most part,; meeting practically famous coaches, being treated like a king, and getting a check from alabama might have something to do with it.

I think bama has a Jr day this weekend and they are thinking he shows up for that with Jermaine Roberts and maybe some other La guys. He has to show up over there at some point, he's already no showed twice after others claimed he was going to be there.
