Desean Smith had a handful of catches too. The starters sat out the second half.

Yes Max Calderra retired after 30 years and 200 wins. New coach moved over from South Beauregard after going 34-12 in 4 years there.

The new guy is supposed to throw a lot more right? I think I read that the offense will be opened up a little more.

Westlake dominated most of the game against a bigger school and the defensive looked impressive

Yes they are suppose to be moving away from the run the ball 50 times a game offense or "slot" as they called it now they are a spread oriented team with 8 receivers rotating in as well as both qbs playing wide reciever.

Man It is crazy what a new coach will do to a team, I remeber when I played for Westlake it was the same pass routes every play, max and schiro where not the most cutting edge play callers

That's why I moved to defense!! Max did mess with that too. My senior year he told Zito to change the scheme every week. It was a nightmare. No wonder we scorched for 35 pts a game!

yea and westlake is a favorite in 3a.
the catch for quinn was really good but neither him nor smith played much in the second half because of the blowout and barbe was running at will.
Washington had 3 catches and looked good. Tyler johnson of westlake is another prospect that is a mid level fbs guy at this point. as of right now he has no shot to qualify even just starting his junior year unless he makes major changes. Jacory is coming off the hamstring injury from one of the summer camps and only had a week of practice. Westlake like barbe pulled the starters due to it being a blowout. Sulphur scored with less then a min left against the JV to make it look better then it was.
both schools have the ability to make deep runs. Westlake looks very good under the new system and with the emergence of a QB other then Johnson this system should really take off. With Johnson at wr the other team will not be able to double jacory, also the slot guy for them is very good. Not a fbs prospect but a very good hs player.

Hopefully they can pull off another run like 2008. We should have won that game had we had a kicker.

Barbe is #2 behind west Monroe but there offense will prolly average 40 per game there running back is no slouch either

I don't believe westlake is a favorite for 3a they could finish 3rd in there own district behind Notre dame and Jennings but if they split those two games could be able to make a run to the quarters ... in the preseason poll they are 15th

I just don't think Barbe is gonna have the defense to win a championship this year. It will be a lot like last year IMO. Exit in the quarters or possibly the semis.

Even with a lack of defense they will be hard to beat I don't believe they will get knocked out before semis

yea they arent the favorite but are one of the favorites. I think they finish at worst 2nd in district. I really think they can make a run to the semis

ballhawk what team did you play on? i played on the 2000 team that went to the semis. it was zitos TA year.
