No. No he won't.

Uh, how wouldn't he? LSU is so desparate for guards next year, he's guaranteed 10+m/gm. That's making an immediate impact.

Yea, anyone saying Kieran won't come in and compete for PT next year is crazy.

Love his skillset and I think he will fit well for us.

I could see him struggling like Quarterman did his freshman season, and just get better and better each season.

I think he's a nice project. Our staff has clearly shown they have a great eye for talent at guard, so if they like him I like him

I'll bet you that the people that are predicting Kieran want have an impact next year,Are some of the same ones that said patterson was only a take because he played with Ben.Patterson went on to become a part-time starter

Exactly. I don't think he has the defense of Quarterman but he has more of a offensive potential. There will be a transition but he could be really good once he adjusts

There's a huge and very significant different in these two prospects.....

Quarterman couldn't shoot in high school. He had abysmal shooting percentages. He just was taller than everyone else and had athleticism. When everyone else had similar athleticism on the college level, it took him a while to develop the rest of his game (AKA shooting the ball).

Kieran already shoots at a very high level. There's not as much required to be a good shooter at the next level because the baskets are the same height, the same shape, the same size, ect. I think he has a more diverse game than Quarterman did coming into college and that's why his game will transition better to the next level than Quarterman's did.

I think it's important to mention two things:

1. Quartermann still made an instant impact his freshman season. He was a very valuable player for that team.
2. While Kieran may have an easy adjustment to the game, he has a lower ceiling imo.

I'll be honest, I haven't seen a full game from him or anything, but I think this is really trying hard to make some point that I'm not sure of... This is another 6'5" guard who can certainly do more than you are giving him credit for. I think he has pretty damn good ball handling for an off guard... His ability to block shots shows he has plenty of athleticism and to think he can only dunk on small australians is just silly. He may not be posterizing players, but given any space, this kid is slamming it down.

He basically has no school left so he can be working fully on basketball till next fall. From everything I've heard, the kid has great work ethic, knows he needs to improve, and will work hard to get where he wants.

I don't think any of us on this board has seen a full game of him. But you take the little 6 minute clip of his best moments in games and you can use that to be pretty accurate. He will get destroyed attacking the rim at this level, especially if he can't really go left. That includes his ball handling to, he predominantly goes right with everything which tells me he's a one dimensional ball handler. He can create a little off the dribble, but he doesn't elevate high enough on his stepbacks etc to be able to create a shot for himself every time. He's blocking these kids shots, but thats every decent high school player. I played against Kendrick Perkins in high school, he would run point guard. J'Covan Brown, and Gerald Green I also played against they looked like animals at the post as guards. Like I said, I am hopeful. Most foreign players don't play much defense, which there aren't many clips of him doing except that one steal the kid practically threw him the ball. I've played against guys that are BOOM caliber, and I'm not impressed with this kid to that extent

Oh and for the record, Antonio Blakeney does not declare after the season's over. He's not ready yet IMO. Quarterman, on the other hand, will be mid to late 1st.

Blakeney has zero intention to stay past his freshman year

Why does the rant think you have to be muscular and not slended/skinny to be strong. This kid is athletic, and basketball wise he is explosive. He generates alot of force to explode and pull off these dunks from a close range. He barely gets a run going before them, which increases your jump.

Hornsby would be a good comparison actually. Both can shoot, run, and are very explosive leapers.

Dont act like this is a floppy legged shooter. He would kill you on the basketball floor, straigh dunk on you.

I bet you think bench press is biggest strength indicator too. Hint: its isnt for competitive athletes, especially basketball players. Scouts are way more interested in total body strength and leg explosiveness.

Edit:

J will, you seem like you beleive in your statements, and like you played some real bigtime ball, citing nba players and such, so I guess you have some authority.

But I dont see what you are seeing. He looks like a good recruit to me, and very comparable to guys we already got in terms of athleticism and size. He looks like a johnny jones type of lsu player.
