Hey Guys,

First time poster here. I host a radio show in Australia called The Flag Flyers where we follow all the Aussies playing in the States. We had a chat with Josh Growden who just signed on as a punter a couple of weeks ago about his signing. If anyone is interested in checking out the chat and finding out a little more about Josh you can find it here:

Of course having such a strong Aussie connection with Brad Wing and Jamie Keehn, we regularly chat about LSU on the show and now with Ben Simmons having committed for the next College Basketball season as well we'll have even more to talk about! Happy to post any other chats we have with these guys as well. Ta

Thanks bud. Will do. Hopefully going to head over later this year to see a couple of games once the season starts so that'll be good fun!

That rapid fire was hilarious. "Gronk's dead. Jamie's killed him."

Heck yeah, and it's interesting how most of these Aussie punters kick from both feet equally as good..

I've got a question. Is it a big dream of many kids to come to the US to play sports
How does the sports there translate to sports here.
Specifically. Australian rules football. Or do most kids want to stay there to play
Do they aspire to move here and see how it works?

An Aussie and a Coonass co-own a bar together. Would make a hilarious sitcom.

There are certainly a bunch of kids who do dream of playing college sports, however it's a lot more common with basketball players and some smaller sports rather than football players. The college football path is only something that has started to become popular over the last few years so we will certainly start seeing a spike in Aussie punters over the next 5+ years.

Usually these kids come through our TAC Cup system which is where all of our aspiring Aussie Rules players play while in school (Under 18 comp). Once they realize that the AFL isn't a realistic shot, then many of them try their hand at punting.

The good thing is that ten years ago, they wouldn't have even considered trying their hand at college football but now it seems to be the default option for kids with big boots (our game is all about kicking accuracy and length so it translates well).

While Josh, who HAS been an NFL/college football fan for a while, grew up wanting to play Aussie Rules, we asked him off air if he'd rather still be on the list of the team that de-listed him or at LSU...He didn't hesitate in saying LSU.
