I did some quick research on Tim Jernigan's Top 3: Tennesse, FSU, and LSU, and came upon some interesting realizations.

Sure, the following list has NO account for CFB productivity, but certainly pro potential is a major draw for high school and JUCO prospects.

This list is of CURRENT NFL players, so it does not account for any drafted/signed players who had good college careers and made it to the NFL, but for some reason or another are not still playing. So in short, it's a list of recent NFL-longevity of defensive linemen from the aforementioned college programs.

I was surprised at the lackluster reality of LSU D-linemen, especially compared to UT and FSU, but I suppose their programs have experienced stability for a much longer time than LSU's.

But then I realized...

LSU can indeed get you to the NFL. You might not go first round, but if you're on the 2-deep (exception, Pep), you gon' get paid, son. Even if, for some reason, your college career does not pan out, and you have a lackluster college career like Al Woods', just BEING at LSU will get you noticed, drafted, and the weight of succeeding put on your shoulders.

After all, football is a grind. It's a job. Just like when you work at a bank, very few make the big bucks. But if you love it, and chose it, then you can make a living.

Live for the present, you may never see the NFL. Death Valley is as good as it gets.

Personally, I think the tides are changing...with the new coaching staff at UT, Nevis, Montgomery, Dorsey & Jackson gaining experience, Montgomery, Mingo...but hey, it's not the school, it's the person, RIGHT?

Thoughts?

Thanks, but you've got some glaring mistakes.

Tyson Jackson was not a third round pick. I think he was the third pick.

You need to change the number of high pick for LSU. Tyson was a top 5 pick

Tyson Jackson was the 3rd pick not 3rd round.

Bonstonker, you need to do a video for the new recruits coming in. All of your stuff is superb and would be awesome to see you do something like that

Well leaving Kyle Williams off is a glaring mistake. He's probably one of if not the best DL LSU has right now.

My bad about leaving Kyle off. It definitely puts us ahead of FSU when I include him, seeing that he's a drafted pro bowler.

If you add Kyle and fix Tyson, LSU looks pretty damn good.

Please fix the original post in case by chance this thread gets forwarded to TJ.

Is Wroten out of the league?

How could anyone forget about Marquise Hill?

He would still be starting if it wasn't for the accident. May he RIP.

He was one of my favorite tigers of all time.

Hill had that killer instinct in him and I think would have been a force in the NFL, especially for a team like the Patriots

I'm gonna choose not to include the latest rash of great LSU players whose careers have been cut short due to accident.

Players who haven't played in four years do not qualify.

Why? It skews the stats unfavorably. Fact is, Hill was a drafted DL, who is unfortunately not with us. You give Tenn credit that Harrell was 1st round caliber.

At least a footnote or something.
