I never saw an official link or any article or tweet confirming that Phillips was actually in BR. I've still been looking. I asked the same question last might, and there are several people stating that he is in town, as a fact.

Good lord, Phillips looks like he can step out on that field and be good to go tomorrow. Really want him in this class.

If you ask why an unofficial visit it is because he has used all of his OV's. He had to come to LSU on his own dime which should say he wants to be here or at least check it out one more time before making a final decision.
