Randy was great.....however let's take a step back........he's not the best that Coach K has ever seen.

I have not lost my mind
Coach K for years had an xm radio talk show. I have heard him AT LEAST 3 times over that span say Randy is the best HIGH SCHOOL player he has ever seen. A few years ago at the boo Williams eybl, my son took a piss literally at the urinal next to coach k. I will ask him in April this question and report back. I'm on the case!!

lol maybe he just shared that with you and no one else. Sounds like a great feel good story. "Hey Coach K. How's it going?

"Going great you guys are from Louisiana I see. Randy Livingston was one of the best I've ever seen come out of that state"

See how things get twisted around........

While I completely understand that Livingston was an unbelievably phenomenal high school player I too have some doubts on if he was THE BEST Coach K has ever seen. That would basically mean Livingston is the greatest high school player of at least the past 30 years. Guys like LeBron, Greg Oden, and maybe even Jabari Parker (who was also a two time national player of the year) in high school would probably have to be mentioned before Livingston, but I don't know.

nail on the head. It's not even a fair comparison. Arguably one of the best to play at the high school level in the state of Louisiana.....absolutely.

However, for Coach K to say that he's the best that he's ever seen out of every kid that's played basketball in the country is extremely far fetched. It's actually laughable.

1) LeBron James
2) Kevin Garnett
3) Kobe Bryant
4) Kareem
5)Rick Mount
6) Kenny Anderson
7)Damon Bailey
8)Felipe Lopez
9)Patrick Ewing
10)Allen Iverson.

Just to name a few who were absolutely more dominant at the high school level than Randy was.

Lester Earl had the pleasure of playing with 2 other 6"9 guys plus a skilled 6'6 guy that what made him that good, I played for Istrouma and our big man Issac Hawkins would score over 30 points on him every time we played him and hold him under 20 points.

I don't know if Coach K saw Kareem in high school but he DEFINITELY saw Greg Oden and Oden despite his failed NBA career imo has to be top 10 all time for high school. Just look at his Draft Profile from NBA Draft.net. LINK To this day his Draft grade of 106 is the highest I've ever seen Nbadraft.com give any player. Just look at who they compared him to. I just have a hard time believing Livingston was better than him in high school.

I have NEVER spoken to coach k. I have on at least 3 occasions heard him make the Livingston statement on his radio show. I will see him at Boo Williams next year (provided it is a live period for recruiting) and remove my LSU hat before asking him that question.

Lester Earl was a year behind me. We scrimmaged them for a half (along with a few other teams) in the preseason and they only beat us by 2. I agree that they had a good all-around team, which helped Earl get many fast break dunks (some off their full court press).

I only saw Randy Livingston play once in HS. It was at the Cajundome against New Iberia, which was by far the best team in the Lafayette area. New Iberia had a super athletic team while Livingston was playing with a bunch of little white guys. Livingston completely controlled the game with a mix of scoring, rebounding, and assists. Newman was down by 1 with 10 seconds left so they called timeout. Everyone knew the ball would be in Livingston's hands. He gets doubled, passes to a little white guy who hits the (apparent) game-winner. New Iberia had no time-outs so they quickly inbound the ball and attempt a 3/4 court shot at the buzzer. Livingston fouls on the shot and New Iberia wins. It was such an odd finish to an otherwise brilliant game by Livingston.

I'm still thinking about some of the greatest high school athletes to ever play the game.

Most of you remember Penny Hardaway Here's his stats from his senior year in high school....Hardaway grew up playing basketball in Memphis for Treadwell High School where he averaged 36.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 3.9 steals, and 2.8 blocks as a senior and was named Parade Magazine National High School player of the year.

Also the former chris jackson. Chris Webber etc. etc. so many talented players.

Lol I believe some of those little white guys he played with was the Mannings. I think he played with Cooper and Peyton. And they cheated on that foul call giving New Iberia the win. Lol I'm messing with you, man, I wasn't even there. lol
