some credit if we end up with a top 5 class this year? His decision to pull the plug on Miles mid-season as opposed to the end of the season may have saved this class.

I'm sure most will say that he should have pulled the plug at the end of last season (even though he couldn't), but if we end up with Jimbo, this recruiting staff is probably long gone and who knows.

You can look at it multiple ways, but I guarantee nobody here is going to give Joe any kind of credit for anything.

You're saying we should give him credit for fixing a mess he made. I give my 4 year old kudos when he cleans up all his toys after hes thrown them everywhere. So we should treat our AD like a 4 year old. Got it.

I still don't get this sentiment. From what we can tell, he couldn't have fired Les last season if he had wanted to.

What would this class look like if he would have pulled the plug on Miles last year like he was supposed too?

Looks like Miles was well on his way to another top 5 finish with this class when he was fired. Miles was not a good game day coach, but nobody can validly complain he couldn't recruit.
Recruiting ability alone does not make a good HC. that applies to both Miles and Da Coach O.

Correct, but it doesn't help that he was cut mid-season. We could have easily finished in the Top 5 had he been cut last year, IMHO

We would have Cam Akers and Marvin Wilson already with Jimbo.

Alleva shouldn't get the blame for not firing Miles last year. That is well documented. He wanted him gone. And, in hindsight, it would have 100% been the right call. But, we have toolbags like Alexander and Gov'r. So it is.

Now, as for recruiting "credit".... hell no. Alleva will be judged on how well Eaux does over 3-5 years, not 2 months of recruiting. I thought it was the wrong hire, but I do give Eaux credit for keeping Aranda and, perhaps most important of all, landing Canada. Canada has been a decent closer so far for offensive recruits.

It is, surprisingly, on the defensive side where we are having the real recruiting battles right now. That is partly because Miles, you could argue, put his eggs in the LA boys basket, and with them going out of state Eaux is going for big wins outside of LA to make up for it. But, either way, we really need some LBs, DLs, and maybe another stud OL. That is how you win the SEC. Not with 4-star QBs and WRs.

I don't often call out posters for being stupid in this target rich environment, but this post is so aggressively ignorant, that it deserves notice. Even here.
JBE had nothing to do with Miles being retained. Nor Hillary. Nor Obama. Nor Soros. Nor the UN.
Jindal was still governor when this occurred and still controlled the BOS. His nominees STILL have a majority today due to staggered terms. Jindal also appointed (read: "forced a single candidate on the school") F. King Alexander, who was instrumental in keeping Miles.
If you have any facts to support this partisan myth you seek to foist here, please provide a link.
