I'm late to the party but is anyone familiar with the recruitment of Hess out of HS? Were the ACC schools on him or did he just want to play at a place with the tradition of LSU?

It's LSU. Might not be the LSU under Skip, but we can still pretty much cherry pick the players we want nationally.

LSU is the premier program in baseball, we have had and have kids from everywhere. Not really like football where it's extremely regional.

Someone close to him told me his family consists of LSU fans I believe. Or maybe his parents went to LSU? I don't remember exactly.

"says he chose to attend LSU for the opportunity to work with pitching coach Alan Dunn and the chance to win a national championship"

Even at a pretty good program like UVA, nobody gives a shite about college baseball there. It's different playing in front of legit crowds.

The crowd for the Regionals was amazing and solidifies why anyone would want to play here.

His older brother punched my former roommate in third grade. Rumors say he is here for revenge.

That's not true. They draw very well and have a nice Stadium. I have been there. Charlottesville supports Virginia sports very well. Hess is from a very small town. Virginia is a preppy school with lots of rich white kids. It's not for everyone. And some kids just want to get away from home.

Being from Louisiana and having lived in Virginia for a decade now, sports and sports fans here suck.

LSU football recruiting is far from being only regional at this point. Nick Saban started the process of making us a national recruiting powerhouse, and Les Miles expanded upon it. Ethan Pocic is the most recent example, but there have been many others.
