I'm not going to pretend that you can tell anything from practice drills, but I love this cat's fundamentals.

It's gets me excited...

I thought the Tiger faithful might enjoy a few throws because it's going to be about 3 months before we see him in the spring

FWIW he was not picked as one of the Elite 11 at the end of the camp.

So who won the Elite 11 crown?

That's crazy he didn't get picked and still was rated #1 pro style Qb in the land by both scout and rivals...

does not add up

I watched some interviews from that camp and it seemed like several QB's worked on the exact drills they would be tested on, while Gunner was working on footwork, and moving around in the pocket (home with his dad)...according to his clip..

in other words, maybe Gunner didn't prepare for drills they were being evaluated on? dunno

he looks legit to me...

And the Elite 11 camps are in the spring of Junior year, correct?

So there is a lot of time to improve

The Elite 11 is just not condusive to some kids and other kids just have good days in those settings. I'm not 100% but I think most winners of the Elite 11 weren't the top qb in their class. I'd be interested in seeing the past winners.

That's what a real qb looks like

I think a better test would be the upcoming AA bowl where Qbs actually have to

face a pass rush
be in pads
make reads
fit the ball away from the defenders
play against the best talent

I watched the whole thing and, to my surprise, Trent Dilfer was excellent. He put 20+ ELITE QB's in drills/situations/environment where the TRUE alpha dogs would step up. The true leaders-led, the grinders-worked and got better, and the others either, couldn't handle the competition or were exposed due to collection of talent.

I'm sorry to say, but Kiel came off as Chris Simms to me. Mechanical, looks the part, but when Dilfer pressed he didn't respond.

Hope he learned and was humbled enough to grow. If not, he'll have a tuff transition to SEC.

He seems to have some zip on his balls. I thought that was his only real problem according to experts?

QB performances at AA games are crapshoots. Unless you are a defensive player or the 2nd or 3rd RB, it's really difficult to be at your best.

You have an OL that was forced together in under a week, a WR group you don't have a lot of chemistry with, and you're going up against a defense that seem to always be ahead of the offense in these type games...

Very slightly behind, but none had to stop momentum to catch a ball. Unlike the poster above, I thought the main "gripe" from the video would be his spirals. He didn't throw a lot of tight spirals, although they were good balls, not wounded ducks. Perhaps it was the ball, or a somewhat off day, or perhaps he needs a bit of help with his grip. He could be very successful in college throwing those types of balls, so no worries imo.
