Read here and there that it's hard to see him leaving the state.

If anyone, at this point, would be a close second would be Florida.

I called him to BAMA at first, but things have obviously changed

Guess playing with his bro isn't that big of a factor.

Maybe his brother has tipped him off that playing for the midget isn't very fun?

IMO playing in a 4-3 is bigger than playing with his brother. If he plays in a 3-4 then he gets no recognition but being a space eater. There's a reason why LSU produces DL and Bama produces LBers. It's all about the defenses they play

Yeah the NFL would be better if it had some LSU LBs and some Bama DLs.

They played at separate HS so I don't think it's a big deal to play with bro

I dont remember him ever being high on Bama.

Hasn't it all been speculation about his mom wanting him and that 3rd string safety at Bama to play together?

Make no mistake he was very high on Bama at one point. I don't feel it was ever as much as people paniced but he was very high and comfortable there. I have no clue what changed but it was pretty apparant during the late summer(around the time of his very quiet visit to LSU) that something broke down with Bama. I'll never sleep on Bama in his recruitment because they'll never give up on him.

Also, as bad as it seems to think and even knowing that he is his on person and has a different set of circumstances, there will always be a little hesitation of being completely comfortable with his recruitment status as it pertains to LSU. The reason is because of the way Landon's recruitment went down with all the misleading info and outright playing of our staff by Landon. I always try to give the benefit of the doubt to each kid and will with Gerald but it will always be in the back of my mind that there could be some shenanigans possible just because of the Landon recruitment.

Yeah.. I figured that much. I had just heard some rumblings about them wanting to play together at the next level.

But LSU4lyfe, you are right - looking at the defensive system should play a way bigger factor, but at the same time, Florida runs a 3-4 as well as Bama.

Something was posted that the mom and Gerald made a trip to Alabama and they didn't feel like the staff gave them much attention. That was in the early part of the season. Not sure if they went back there after that

Something was also posted here citing a Rivals interview, I think, that said he realized he just did not like Alabama and removed them from his list. That was somewhere this past season.

Muschamp will put up a fight for this kid. As good of a record as we have putting D-lineman into the NFL, Florida isn't that far behind in that category IMHO. A&M will be a factor as well. Man, they skyrocketed from this year. Hopefully they come back down to earth next year with all the players they lose to NFL this year and it all puts itself back into place for us and Willis.

System-wise, he obviously fits better with us and A&M than Bama and Florida.

Kid is a stud.

Moving to the SEC has truly catapulted A&M into a new level of recruiting. Before long, they will have first pick of the Texas crop over UT.

Man, did Sumlin walk into a great situation, or what?

I remember reading this with a huge sigh of relief but hopefully that stays true.

No joke. It's been a perfect storm for A&M. They make the move to the SEC with low expectations, a roster quietly filled with very talented guys (Manziel, Matthews, Joeckel, Demontre Moore, that WR Evans), and at a time when Texas, TCU, and Texas Tech are all kinda down right now in comparison to where those programs have been in the last 5-10 years.

Sumlin did walk into a great great situation, but that doesn't take away from the job he's done. He put together a very good staff (Kingsbury in particular) and they really played all year above what anybody could have imagined. Props to the Aggies, but frick em. I hope they fall back to earth next year.

Yes, but he's also making the most of that situation. Not just any coach could've done what he's done this season.
