Bringing this over to the RB because I thought it would be interesting to get the opinion on these amateur rankings as it pertains to the quality of recruits put out in the state of LA (and/or LSU's recruiting grounds).

Running Back
2. LSU (Hill, Ridley, Blue, Ware)

Wide Receiver
1. LSU (Beckham Jr., Boone, Bowe, Holliday, LaFell, Landry, Randle, Shepard, Wright)

Offensive Line
3. LSU (Whitworth, Turner, Barksdale)

Defensive Back
1. LSU (Peterson, Mathieu, Reid, McCray, Simon, Loston, Clark, Claiborne, Brooks)

We also received an honorable mention for K/P and DL... unranked and unmentioned for QBs and LBs.

It's a thread by one random Georgia fan. I'd be embarrassed to link too.

But, but, but, we don't put OLineman in the NFL!

About to be 4 with Collins.

Does LSU put a large number of quality players into the NFL?

Does LSU put quality QBs and LBs into the NFL?

Does the state if Louisiana produce quality QBs and LBs at the same rate as the other positions?

It was an interesting parallel, that is all, which is why this wasn't posted on tRant

We don't have a great LB history as far as stars in the league but we've got a few solid LBs in the league now. Perry Riley has been around a few years and still does a solid job. Arizona is very happy with Minter at LB. He's the cornerstone of their LB corp and that's a salty defense. Bradie James hung around a few years in Dallas and was solid. Not sure if he still plays or not. Kwon is about to give us another one. Not a great group but worthy if a ranking I think.

Not sure about any note without looking but would be interested to know if we have any more LBs in the league

Not one of these is from Louisiana. Three from Georgia and one from Alabama. That's kind of weird considering that our state produces lots of running backs, which are very similar to LBs.

I know we are only looking at current players but we have had some very good Offensive lineman come through in the 90s: Alan Faneca, Todd McClure, and Kevin Mawae. They just stopped playing within the last 3 years. Nate Livings also played for alittle while as well. I think in the next 3 years, we will see that list get a whole lot bigger.

I think you're right. Really should have looked around for a better source.

OL Stephen Peterman was a starter for Detroit Lions IIRC, and his career was cut short because of injuries. I think he last played in 2013.

So what you're saying is that we are DBU, RBU, WRU, and OLU? Guess just call it NFLU

No

Historically those two positions in LA don't match DL, OL, WR, RB etc

Been that way since I've been paying attention.
