As everyone will suggest .:: we need a Qb

but I agree. We are cleaning up the state and will have the best d lineman signing class since the marquise hill/spears class

Rashard Lawrence
Kristian Fulton
Trayvon Mullen
Willie Allen
Devin White
Jean Delance
Michael Divinity
Deonte Christmas-Giles
Sci Martin
A QB

Would put us at 27. Anyone think we get someone I didn't mention or anyone think we don't sign one of the guys above?

Jean delance and Mullen seem to be up in the air from what I have read on here. I think we end up with Mullen bc we get him to visit the last weekend in January. But that's just my opinion nothing to back it up

Would you rather Mullen or Fulton? I think the coaches are holding the last CB spot for Fulton. Don't think Mullen is coming here, unless something happens with Fulton.

If I had to choose one I say Fulton. But I thought we wanted them both from what I've read.

We've wanted them both the whole time and the plan was to get both the whole time. We have his last visit and our side is still confident so until he puts on a FSU hat I think he's ours.

A QB Praying for Haskins

That would be the ultimate haul. We fill immediate needs on both lines and get 2 true freshman starters at LB. Haskins has the type of talent and polish to compete for the starting job.

Are we still hard after Smith? Seems like he was in our corner then something happened when O went to IMG and all the sudden Manuel fell down the board and Smith seemed to drift away from us. I mean after those kids visited for the UF game Shea was adamant we had Manuel and even CB'd Smith to LSU and hinted at a silent. Weird situation

Not doubting your info, but I still have a hard time believing both come here. If both do commit, does eith Greedy or Smith fall out? Or do the coaches see Smith as a S?

Too many CBs.

We got Toliver, Jackson, Thomas, Paris, Lewis, and Gage already and will most likely bring in Smith, Greedy, and Fulton. That's 3 deep for a nickel D and only Thomas is likely to leave after this year or next.

There is also the slim chance of Rashard Robinson coming back for one last year.

Smith is a nickle/safety and we're not really all that deep with top level talent at CB especially after White is gone. We need top level depth

Xavier Lewis is a safety and I think Paris moves there too if he doesn't win the starting job opposite Toliver next year

I agree it's a lot of cbs. And I'm just going by what I have read I have no inside info. And I also think Raymond goes after Anderson at safety if we miss/pass on Mullen

He wants Anderson and Mullen. When we play with 5 DBs as often as we do we need a lot of quality depth back there. Competition breeds excellence. Look at the 2011 backfield. We wanna be stacked with ballers like that again

This would be great even if we only get a 3* qb but I'm sure we will land somebody nobody expects. Maybe it's a top 100 player or maybe it's a 3* but we will land atleast 1 guy nobody even knows has interest in us. Ex. Key and weathersby last year

When you add Fulton that is 3 deep at outside CB and nickel.

We already have Battle, Thompson, Adams, and Jefferson. Adding in Monroe and Lewis gives us 3 deep at safety as well.

When we get Fulton we'll have 15 DBs. 10 of those 15 will be 4 star and 3 will be 5 star. Eric Monroe will be a 5 star when the dust settles, so I guess you can say four 5 stars, nine 4 stars.

LSU will be stacked without adding unnecessary DBs and using that to fill up the weak LB and line depth that we actually have. I don't know if you've forgotten, but the stars of 2011 were a 2 star athlete turned Thorpe award winner outside CB, a just barely (by like 10 or so spots) 4 star turned heisman contender/Bednarik award winner NB/CB/PR, a senior safety, a senior CB, and a 4 star sophomore safety.

I bring that up for a reason. A couple of unheralded guys in high school and two seniors who were only decent in prior years were the best players in that secondary and some of the best in the country.

LSU has the talent, LSU has and will continue to have the depth at DB even if we run 5 DBs or 6 DBs the majority of the time. Outside of maybe Bama, FSU, and Ohio State, nobody comes close to the talent and depth that we possess in the secondary at LSU (plus this recruiting class). I mean I haven't looked at the numbers and rankings, but could you honestly put anybody above us right now?

I mean just look at Sullivan. A week or two ago he was all TCU or maybe Miss St. Barely anybody was saying he'd recommit to LSU, then just a day or 2 before, you see the optimism and reports roll in. I'm not saying it would happen like that with Smith, but you never know. We were out of it, or at least very low for Arden Key at one point last year if I'm remembering right, before Ed O came in with that 'Berry White voice'.

Given the increase in spread formation offenses, you want more players who have CB skills with the ability to play inside as sort of a hybrid safety. Tyrann Mathieu set the standard for this role. Alabama moved Eddie Jackson inside and he has made a world of difference in their defending against spread offenses. Giving up some size at safety for better cover skills allowed Alabama's defense to give up much fewer big passing plays to slot receivers.

I don't have a problem with LSU looking for more guys with cover skills.
