Ex Louisiana high school soccer star Steven Cabos kicking field goals now that his soccer career has been put on hold due to injury
I went to high school with Cabos and I'm friends of friends with people who know him close and they say he's serisouly trying to kick and a couple of different videos have been going around from phone to phone amongst groups of people I know and I figured I'd do the honors.
He reinjured an ACL tear to his left knee playing soccer for Kentucky last season and supposedly his legs are only back up to 70%. My friends say he's never kicked field goals seriously before. Couldn't tell here. Dude is for real

Anyone know how this kid can kick for LSU next year?

Walk on. That's about it. He'll have to pay for basically everything, but he can get a chance

I'm not trying to rain on this because it's gret that he's out there trying. But his leg strength didn't look overly impressive. There was no LOS in front of him, so I can't tell if his trajectory was acceptable. I used to kick 40 yard field goals at the playground while waiting for flag games to start. But mine would have hit the linemen in the back of their heads. his aren't that low, but he should set up a volleyball net six yards in front of the ball and eight feet high. If he can hit a 50 yarder over that he's got a chance.

That sign in the background is 50 yards away. He's hit a 55 yarder. He's no where near full strength and he's never kicked field goals before so there's only room for improvement.

He was a very good soccer player- one of the best in the state last year

Played select and high school against him and he was ridiculous. Had a hell of a leg. If he learns technique and all that crap and heals fully I dont see why he couldnt possibly walk on

He was absolutely dirty at soccer. He was amazing.

Needs to hit the gym a bit, and put some serious work in on technique and what not just to get the skills nice and polished. I'd bet my bottom dollar that he's good enough to be a D1 kicker though. It'll be tough without a legit highlight reel though.

if alleman could get the starting gig, I'm sure anyone has a chance

Exactly my point. So all is has to do is walk on? That's easy enough

My son kicks 50 yd fg in practice and he is only 15 and in 9th grade. He is a soccer player and has never played football before. He started as a freshman on his varsity team. He was named first team punter on the Birmingham(AL) N)E Metro team and honorable mention kicker on the all-state 3A team. He was the only freshman kicker on either team. All this is to say that for someone your freinds age he has work to do to get a starting job on a college team. I would suggest he try a smaller school. H will get the same notice if he is consistant.

I played against him in soccer a bunch and he was nuts but isnt he 22 or 23 now?
the technique used to kick in soccer and football are very different the hardest part for soccer players is to break bad habits.
ALot of people can kick FGs in practice but unless you have game film that shows the coaches what you can do when the hold or snap go wrong and when you have a defense barreling down on you they wont give you a real chance.
