What a pridefull attitude. They act like they are
so great. Who would play for LSU over Texas?

Lsu has had a better team then Texas for years.

Including 2 BCSNC in ten years. LSU has Way more players in the NFL especially after this draft

Who ever wrote that article looks foolish.

Damm Swat you beat me to that comment, every year they get the top kids in TX and get beat. They will play hell to get the top kids in TX. with A&M now.

Texas doesn't have a choice right now as far as looking for recruits in La.... aTm done ran the longhorns out of their own state!! It's funny b/c now Tx. is the school feeding on scraps from their own state. In fact, it's only going to get worse. SUMLIN is cleaning up right now

ESPN has to be regretting the LHN in a sense now. Maybe its not a complete utter failure, but its not where it should be if I had to guess. Not only does Texas suck at football right now, but their athletic department is consistently full of scandals these days while everyone that heads the athletic department is sitting on a fat salary higher than 99% of collegiate athletic department heads.

The Texas program hasnt been the same since Muschamp left. It is in decline and the old coach is way too soft to rebuild it back to a nat'l contender. Also, OU cant win a big game and will continue to lose out on Texas prospects that normally wouldve committed to them on the spot. If anything the Texas recruits are for the taking. Nice try Horns, now go get a clue.

This is laughable. Lots of Longhorns around me and they reluctantly acknowledge Mack Brown is losing his recruiting touch everywhere esp. in this state as I live in West TX.

I have heard many discussions about the condition of the UT program, including a sports talk program while in Houston a while back which had most callers speculating about possible successors to Brown.

So the they can't get enough talent from their home state that produces the most D1 talent, so they think they are going to come to a much smaller state, that is in SEC country and just out recruit LSU, Bama, aTm, Ole Miss, Auburn, and Miami who all try to raid the state.

Nice job UT

This is what happens when a team who thinks their shite don't stink gets put in their place. They have no where to turn. I never thought I would see a program as strong as Texas fall from grace so fast without any NCAA sanctions or some other outside factor.

I don't have a problem with much in that story. It's a good story. The only issue is the whole "pipeline" thing. When I think of "pipeline" I think a constant flow. The only school I see having a pipeline to Louisiana talent, other than LSU, is Bama, which always seems to get a couple of good ones that LSU would like to have (although it's arguable this year with Williams...I still think if the kid was all-LSU, LSU would gladly have taken him. It's just that with the kid seeming apathetic about LSU's interest, he wasn't a good enough prospect to go "all-out" for).

Don't forget, Texas stole Torshiro Davis and that was before they had Porter as an assistant. Porter's going to work it here and that's the point of the story, Texas trying to take advantage of Porter's recruiting sweet spot.

If I'm Texas, I'd be happy to get 2-3 from Louisiana this year. A couple of kids that are below LSU's radar, but can help you (like the St. Aug OL that they talk about in the story) and if they can steal one of the top 13-14 players, they'll have done well.

Now, if they do that every year, would that be a pipeline? By their standards, probably so. Texas has had a very in-state heavy roster over the years. If they have 7-8 Louisiana kids on their roster in a couple of years, that will look like a huge pipeline compared to what they usually get from other states.

Texas has the ability to be a major threat in Louisiana. They have taken the best players in the past.

Texas has trouble evaluating the players in Texas, what makes you think they can do any better in LA.

Sounds like Texas is getting scared of A&M pulling all the best players instate

Tiggerthetooth,Texas took Phillip Geiger and DT Stevie(forget last name) from Evangel. Both recruited by LSU and were all Big 12.Steve Christianson TEfrom New Orleans. They have historically taken good players out of Louisiana. Cole Pittman one of top 10 players in La taken by Texas as well as Chase who left Texas after death of his brother.Took Toshiro Davis last year.

Now isn't it time you return to band practice?
