Before all the ESPN;dr, I'd just like to say that I'm posting this for the laughs. Not for serious discussion. It's an Insider article, so some of you may not be able to read it. Here's an excerpt:
quote:

For a program that has never needed more than what it can find within its own state borders, Texas is starting to acknowledge a new recruiting pipeline is there for the taking. It’s practically begging to be built up.

The Longhorns are poised to become a player in the state of Louisiana, starting with this 2014 recruiting class.

I hope they enjoy leftovers.

Slim chance, I'm guessing there's no mention of the DB raid were going to do in east TX.

So we get Paris and lead for Brown, and the start talking about Texas having a pipeline?

Is it actually an ESPN article or is it a Longhorn Nation article? There is a difference.

They build the pipeline, we take the players from Texas! It's a win win situation.

Its a wonder we'll be able to fill 85 schollies at the rate the 2 Texas schools are taking over LA.

I expect they will become more of a factor with Porter there, but "pipeline there for the taking" is a bit stupid.

I came across it on ESPN's RecruitingNation page, but I guess it's technically a HornsNation article. I was able to read it with my Insider subscription, though. I think all the different team pages are part of the same "ESPN RecruitingNation".

They are losing too many in-state players to LSU. It may make sense for them to start looking OOS, but I think that will bite them. Texas is too big. If they take their foot off the gas for a second, A&M will eat their lunch in recruiting. A&M has selling power with the SEC tag.

Texas recruits on name recognition, but that is fading. They do need to do something.

Who is saying that? Did they not see the 2013 recruiting class top to bottom? Are they not seeing the start of one of the best classes in the nation for 2014? LSU went undefeated in 2011 and earned the spot in the NC more than other team. They were likely one third down play away from potentially playing in the 2013 NC.

I know you were just saying that's what others are thinking, but whoever thinks that of LSU knows nothing of football.

Does it really matter? They have top 5 classes every year and still suck.

They should go for more 2 and 3 star players so they might not be called underachievers.
