That's not Dylan Moses that's Derrius Guice. These kids put in major work for you guys to sit back on a computer an criticize them. You weren't there. You don't know what the real time environment was but you are so sure that they didn't accomplish their goals.

How about you get out their and time them next time that way you can contradict what these college coaches document.#InternetExperts

not criticizing, just pointing out the way the drill was timed.

DM and others were more impressive than expected, props to them

I'll never understand this....why can't a coach make a mistake both ways? Why automatically add .2? Couldn't they have screwed up the other way?

40 yard dashes are timed from when the player first moves. coaches cant react fast enough to the player's first motion.

Also, sometimes laser timing is only used at the finish line, and starts are still hand-timed.

This is also a good read:

Lee said .20 to .24 seconds should be added for converting a hand-timed mark to accurate electronic timing.

That's why in the old days at track meets the gun would make smoke. The eyes would see the smoke and react close to the same time it took the athletes to react to the sound.

Hand timing is hard. You'd have to be good at it to get .2 difference.

I hand time kids at practice over and over and over. I'm always way off their laser times. Way off.

Just speaking of personal experience.

i have hand timed kids at track meets and was dead on with the laser time.

at most events the clock is started manually on laser which requires human reaction time. the starter can be off with the laser too.

I was asked once to help time at a big track meet in north Louisiana, I wasn't asked back
