Haven't heard much from this class? other than decommits and a lot of injuries. This class is very important to adding depth to a lot of the freshman we have playing this year. Does O and staff kick it into gear with the upcoming bye week ? or do we finish with a below average class by LSU standards? This is the quietest this board has been in the last 5 years. Hoping O and staff can pick up some big fish on the O and D line but havent heard many of the top guys mentioning LSU.

It needs to since that's our head coach's strongest ability as a coach

We don't have a ton of spots and we have quite a large amount of commitments so to say we will explode with commitments would.be naive. It's still a long ways until NSD so I won't expect any substantial amount of commitments until NSD unless it's for 2019 or 2020

With only two more home games, gotta hope we've got the sidelines packed with visitors [official or unofficial] for both.

Updates on those adding LSU visits to their calendars over the next 10 days will be telling [especially if we hare 6-2 going into Bama].

Things will definitely pick up around the end of the year. We are in the conversation on some really good prospects

Need linemen. Don't care if they are committed now, but we need linemen on the dotted line when dust settles. Both sides.

Which recruits if any are we now trending for after this game? Have we been able to get shake things up with Cook?

In order, as it relates to recruiting, there are a couple of important things that came out of this game:

- playmakers making plays, often at key moments. Every recruit wants to 'be that guy'. Often freshmen, which only helps.

- some of the swag is back. I know I saw it, and it's been lacking. It relates to competitiveness. It also affects how the players converse with recruits.

- Chark talking about 'brotherhood' and former players being around.

- Sideline was much more active. It wasn't a group of players, it was a team. The recruits standing down at the end see that.

I was also wondering about this.

There are certainly needs that should be addressed.

I was also wondering what effect the new December early signing date will have.

In regards to that early signing date...

remembering Orgeron was opposed to it, keeping that in back of my mind here.

I'll be watching (more like listening) if Orgeron uses that in a few cases as leverage for 'bigger fish'. I'm not sure he will; I am not opposed to it at all. I've been saying LSU needs to get more 'ruthless' with it's recruiting anyway.

By leverage I mean telling, for example only, an uncommitted 4* recruit that the 3* has the slots for that position sewed up. So come Dec, if he wants in he should commit and go for the early period before he does.

I know I would in select cases.

I guess I took "pick up" as we getting like 5 or 6 commitments soon. One commitment here and there is possible but I'm not expecting us to just start landing guys left and right in this class.

This makes me nervous with all the below the radar recruits this year. If one of these guys doesnt do anything his senior year does LSU still sign him? If this whole class signs in Dec. that only leaves like 7 or 8 spots for some immediate impact players. LSU needs guys like this years Freshman class to provide some quality depth for next years team and i don't see alot of these guys in this class. Hoping we close strong though especially on the OL, RB and WR position

I think we might be the lead for Dylan Wonnum - if we end up with him, with Hines and Wire and another project - I'll call it a push for the year. Really, we need 5 or 6 for 2018 and 5 or 6 for 2019 to stabilize the position. 1 of those can be a JUCO each year, but I don't want to do too much of that, because you're doing double work for the same slot, essentially.

Of course they pick up at the end of the year. Recruits are making decisions about where they are going and not just taking visits to party.
By that time most recruits have already made up their minds.

Cook may very well sign with Herman, but if you're using crystal balls as your "source" they are not 100% reliable.

Think South Carolina leads for Wonnum and Hines wants to play DL. I wouldn't be surprised if Mississippi state makes a run at cole smith either. We've got to hold onto the OL commits we have and get Traore. Really need another high school OT too. I think we'll start to see some more OL names as we get closer to NSD as we can't afford to not sign a couple more.
